PC controls

Some idiot at Konami decided a PC game shouldn't have rebindable controls or even a map telling you what they are.
So after doing some reading online and some limited testing I've compiled what they are here in this guide.

Konami is the worst.

THE FOLLOWING GUIDE IS BASED UPON THE "classic controls" SETTING
IT MAY NOT WORK IF YOU CHOOSE "pro controls"
Menu Navigation
Pretty simple stuff.

Arrow keys move up down and side-to-side.

Enter selects what you have highlighted.

Escape to cancel or go back a page.

B opens the pause menu while in gameplay. (It also skips the intro every time you launch the game and is used to exit training)
Movement
This is where things might get a little confusing

WASD moves you on a flat plane, W forward. A left. S back. D right.

E/Z move you up and down. E goes up. Z goes down

Left Shift is your boost. (You have to be moving BEFORE boosting. Boosting while still activates burst attacks)

Combat
Now things get even more wacky.

R locks your view on and off, moving your mouse will change who you lock onto. Pressing R while locked on will turn lock on off allowing you to look around freely. (You automatically lock onto the nearest enemy at the start of battle)

V is guard. Nothing unusual here. (You can move while guarding btw)

Left click attacks, your attack type changes based on range. At melee range you, melee. At long range you shoot. Pressing left click WHILE boosting performs special slightly stronger attacks. Holding left click while at range will fire a charge shot, this is slower than just mash firing but does more damage.

Right click fires your sub-weapon. (By default it is grab but you unlock more as you play)

Q opens the sub-weapon menu (use the arrow keys to navigate it. You can also open the Sub-Weapon menu from the pause screen which is much easier to use and provides stats for each sub-weapon.)

Burst Attacks are performed by standing STILL then pressing shift to enter "burst mode" once in burst mode press left click and you will do a burst attack depending on your range.

Scroll wheel Changes your sub weapon. (Though it does this linearly.)

Misc
N toggles the mini-map on or off

As Arhum in the comments pointed out. The dialogue reactions are bugged and you have to hold the button as soon as someone starts talking to get a response:

Y is "positive reaction"

U is "negative reaction"
Alternate buttons
Some buttons do the same thing as other buttons but (imho) are sub optimal

T attacks just like left click but limits your movement much more than just using the mouse

F boosts but is much more limiting than hitting shift.

IKLM Moves camera but feels more sluggish than using the mouse. I pitches up, M is pitch down,K is spin right and L is spin left.

Escape and G Also fires your sub weapon according to commenter halotrixzdj

for helping me figure out the controls. I put them in guide form to make them more visible to new players, easier to reference while in game, and organize them better.

And to Maej for helping me proof read this guide.

But most importantly of all. YOU! For reading this guide! I hope it helps!

thanks for the info I'll make the edit

You should edit the Y/U section as the PC and PS4 port both have a bug where the window of time to press the Positive/Negative reaction ends before the dialogue is finished.

You have to hold down Y or U (or the Sticks if using a controller) as someone is talking to register that reaction. Konami did acknowledge this bug but never fixed this.

Oh, and my sound doesn't work. Tried the other guide on that issue to no avail, message me if you know fixes for gravelly, crappy sound. Otherwise, I'll try contacting Konami.

I found out that "Escape" also functions as grab, like G!

Clearly the developer of this game is stuck in console mode with little understanding or motivation to alter the game for PC gamers who prefer custom key commands when using keyboard and mouse. Personally I do not like using a controller for gaming because the controls are so limited. Even with a 'Shift" key or "Macro" key that allows combining command strokes for special actions it is too limited compared to a well tuned keyboard and mouse configuration. My mouse has 9 controls on it on top of the macro/shift button that changes the controls to pre-determined setups for combat verses flight or driving controls. Not very many console controllers out there can do that. Just sayin..
