INFO ABOUT THIS MOD
================================================

This mod adds CONSCRIPTION to the game.

We all know that throughout the ages, states have had conscription; so why not try to recreate that in this?

================================================
WHAT THIS MOD DOES:
================================================

Adds +1 new units and +1 new building:

NEW UNIT: CONSCRIPT BRIGADE

A conscript brigade is a force of soldiers drafted into an army. They aren't as well-trained or equipped as a professional army but they can be called upon quickly and can be thrown into action much sooner. You can use them as a last resort defense force or you can use them as the bulk of your army. YOU NEED TO BUILD A CONSCRIPTION CENTER BEFORE YOU CAN BUILD THEM!!! (SEE BELOW)

You cannot purchase conscripts; you may only build them in a city that has a CONSCRIPTION CENTER. When you are building them--as you are drafting soldiers directly from the population--population growth is halted. They have an attack of 25, 1 movement point, start with the Take Cover Promotion (+15% defense against ranged attacks), and are much cheaper to acquire in comparison to other types of infantry. They are cheap, slow, and useful in large quantities. If you are in a bind, they can afford you enough time to bring in reinforcements. You can also use them as the main force of your army if you like and have professional units waiting nearby.

However, due to their inexperience and relatively poor training, Conscript Brigades are subject to:

• A 33% penalty against cities (use your regular forces for capturing cities).
• Recieves no defensive bonuses.
• They cannot be upgraded into any other units.
• They cannot gain experience from attacking or defending (they can still get experience from buildings such as barracks, military bases, etc.

NEW BUILDING: CONSCRIPTION CENTER

You build a a conscription center if you want to build CONSCRIPT BRIGADES. It also provides 3 engineering specialist slots.

Conscription centers have a 3 gold maintenance cost because of all the costs that go into making conscription palpable for the masses.

Good Idea, but i'd say because of the missing time for training, the units shouldn't get XP from buildings like barracks. Because they don't get experience by training, they have to learn by fighting. I think you should change that.

hate conscripts.

The only problem with this mod is that the AI will depend on them as mainline troops. Makes war very boring.

Please make it so they gain EXP from fighting? I find that I was throwing tons of them at enemy troops to slow them down, only to just let them get stronger and stronger as they wipe out wave after wave of my conscripts, not even surrounding the enemy helps slow them down.

I agree with @Eschaton I think that the consription units should gain experience and can be upgraded to regular units for a price, and that they should able to disbanded. It would also be cool if the consription units came from your population. i.e. When one is trained your pop goes from 13 to 12 and you recieve a message. The opposite should happen when disbanded. Cool mod, thats just my idea.

i might try it but you should remove ' no defencing bonuses and no experience from fight' then it would be nice. maybe try working on a different concept then militia i found on workshop, by using workers as militia for a period of time, would need buildings, techs and policies depending on the concept, also conscripts could have different units along different eras and upgrades towards them. i like the concept of city stagnation while building conscript, could also need a specialized citizen building using a citizen to allow conscript, granting faith and production

Historically, conscripts gained experience by actually being in fights and becoming veterans, rather than by drilling and training (which they usually didn't have time for since they were called up in times of emergency). I'd suggest making it so that conscripts do not receive experience from buildings and DO get experience from fighting. I'd also suggest that their gold cost be normal, but that they cause some unhappiness per unit in their home city instead.

Can you make it so once you have researched "Industrialization" Conscript Brigades will spawn as Rebels if your nation is unhappy?
