Description
Era - 2000s - Boxing

Daughter of the Greatest of All Time, Laila Ali didn't grow up wanting to become a boxer. But when she witnessed a match featuring Christy Martin, Ali decided to follow in her father's footsteps, training in the sport.

Muhammad Ali was not convinced at first, but supported Laila as she started her professional boxing career in 1999, and the younger Ali made up for her lack of seasoning with a the remarkable athleticism of her family, defeating eight straight opponents, although most were considered to be lesser foes.

Ali's credibilty rose significantly as she took on better opposition, starting with Jackie Frazier-Lyde, the daughter of Muhammad's great foe, Joe Frazier. An Ali would emerge victorious over a Frazier once again as she took the decision. Becoming more popular in her own right, Ali now set her sights on earning gold, and did so against the tough Valerie Mahfood, defeating her twice in a row.

Eventually, Ali would also face her inspiration, Christy Martin, and took a third title from the versatile Erin Toughill. Laila Ali's importance to the world of womens' boxing cannot be understated, with her good looks, family lineage and dominating style, Ali earned sponsors and attention to the sport that would not have been around otherwise.

Yeah, that'd be a great option, being able to properly unify the belts that way.

My Undisputed Women's champion holding the WBA WBC IBF and WBO titles.... just defended and retained them all against 4 different challengers..... Wish you could defend more than one title at a time.
