This works unless the game has been updated to change files which the mod effects. Even so, the mod would still work, might just have some weird textures. But mostly its just like a version number that's gotta be updated through the Modding Kit.

Hey sorry for the late reply. Here is the method for updating mods. Install the Total War modding kit. Open the mod in the kit. Save as a new mod. Done.
