Yeah, I'll begin at the end. Deal with it!

GeForce Experience[www.geforce.com] is a tool to automatically scan your system, determine the best settings and, well, set them.

Remember to check the system requirements[www.geforce.com] and if your rig fits, download[www.geforce.com] the sweetie.
Initial setup
So, start GFE and take a look at the settings window.
The default settings are pretty much perfect, except for the folders. You really should follow my setup. Namely including only the Common and [YourSteamAccountName] folders. If your Steam is in the default folder, exclude it.
Preparation
Download the game (duh!) and start it. Quit it right afterwards. Trust me, I'm an engineer!
Execution
Start GFE and right on the front page, you will find a "Scan" button. Use it.
As you can see, The Witcher 2 is not optimized. No problem, just click the "Optimize" button and viola, graphics settings tailored for YOUR rig. Without any effort on YOUR side!

dk why I didn't add this the other post.

IF optimzing isn't really working (you have a card that is below spec as a poster below mentioned) you can adjust it manually as well with the slider in Geforce Exp. Instead of just clicking optomize, click the little wrench icon beside it and slide that closer to performance.

Gonna Necro this, but IF you can't retrieve the settings, you have to launch the game, adjust the settings yourself. Then close and reopen Geforce Exp. Click the game, and it should be able to be recieved then. You'll need to do that with basically everygame.

I can't optimize TW2 anymore. Not sure why. Maybe I never could.

@ ReBoot: I recently got my 1st Nvidia GPU (GTX1070) & must say i toataly agree with ur guide, using the GeForce Experience optimization settings is really a great & fast way to get things set-up perfectly for ur particular GPU.

Used this for W3, getting 20 FPS on a card that supposedly shouldn't be running W3.

According to the system requirements page, no. But XP can be safely concidered being outdated anyway.
