Bucket Wheel Excavator, 800T (Vanilla)

OctoMoose's "realistic" industrial builds

Description
A fully functioning automatic Bucket Wheel Excavator for you strip mining needs. Fire and forget, will work autonomously.

This build is OBSOLETE!!!!! Please check out the "Real" BWE. This was just a prototype to prep me for what is now available on the workshop, a BWE 2-3 times the size of this and at least 5-10 times faster, making this edition obsolete in contrast.

UPDATE #1
Complete overhaul of the discharge boom! Now accommodates the new Haul Truck! :)

READ CAREFULLY!

Find the control cabin on the front right side,
1) Hit "5" to project a measuring stick and drive until yellow part clips halfway into the terrain.
2) Park (handbrake on! P by default),
3) Hit "6" for flat terrain mining, or "7" for hill mining. NOT BOTH!!!! If you wish to reset the BWE, use "8". That's it, rest is for manual use, such as reeving length adjustment to adjust bucket height. You do not need to stop for this :)
Duplicate controls can be found in the booth on the left of the bucket wheel.

Lighting options on Tab 2, (ctrl+2 while in driver's seat)

BY DEFAULT DUMPS ALL MATERIAL OUT THE BACK

Features:
-2 automatic modes of operation, Hill Mode = The BWE does a criss cross with its boom cutting layers from bottom up and back down again, and Flat Mode = The BWE Lowers its boom and begins swinging, scraping off surface layers. Perfect for ice harvesting on lakes. In both modes the BWE advances forwards by itself when it needs to, just fire and forget!
-Manual operating mode should you wish to be the foreman yourself
-Survival Ready = It is conveyored and dumps material off the back. It is piped and ready to rumble, but no you can't project it and expect it to work right out the box.
-Smart automation = As the drillhead bounces back and forth while making a cut timing varies, the BWE waits until the arm has turned enough to the side before switching to cut another piece ensuring full swings happen, and not partial ones.
-Autorepairing bucket wheel, no need to worry about dings and dents.

Is it useful? Not particularly, but again it answers to the "Can it be done in SE?" that I like to ask when looking at big industrial vehicles. And I do think it looks badass! For this project unlike the Tunnel boring machines, the challenge I wanted to tackle was the spooky clangbait piston chain for reeving as well as sideways drilling motion. Happy to say that so far I've never had a failure with this machine!

Known Issues:
Sometimes sensors go nuts and want to lock the swing in its extreme position. Just find "Swing sensors and turn them off and restart the BWE. (FIXED)
It's real slow I know, can't think of a way to make it faster..

Again, if you find issues with it or have ideas on how to improve it, let me know! If submitting a fault in the machine, be as specific as you can and we can troubleshoot it together.

Enjoy!

Honestly can't remember, your guess is as good as mine at this point sadly.

Hi, great work! Only problem I found is missing 'slots' of named blocks or groups. any chance for a detailed 'what where' list in timers/controls?
All monsters are great :selike:

This thing is cool, but I just cant get it to work.. Sad days...

I got it all set up, and working, but it is as if it deliberately doesn't want to mine. It's against the face of the hill, and the pistons retract as to avoid touching the hill. It's frustrating as hel...

even though its a prototype..it is good for beginners since it does shovel much from the ground

Are you using reverse or retract/extend commands? iirc I used a timer as a check valve for the retract/extend enabler. If flat mode was on this block was off and didn't allow a timer to trigger that would switch reeving states, opposite to hill mode where it allows it. Hope that made sense... check it again carefully and if not just force it by removing the whole reeving adjusting command on the timer.

I've rebuilt your creation in survival, checked the settings multiple times and it works except for the flat mode. Instead of extending the pistons and leaving them extended it retracts them like it is in hill mode. I can't figure out which setting is wrong

i actually thought of this before this got uploaded but thought it would be a pain in the A

Good luck with that... there's a lot of components to these... Would be much easier to reverse engineer what I did here and then build from scratch
