House of the roman Torlonia family until 1938, the "Casina delle Civette" (House of the Owls) is the result of multiple additions and modifications over the course of a century to the "Alpine hut" on which the members of the noble family used to retire in solitude to study and cultivate their hobbies. The bulding consists in two main bodies connected by a wooden skywalk and an underground passage, and it features multiple architectural styles, from rural style with arts&crafts "medievalisms" to precious Liberty style decorations, on which the owls, the birds symbolising knowledge, are often protagonists.
