Controls
I guess the first thing that should be noted is the controls. The main controls can be accessed via the in-game menu (opened with ‘esc’) -> Settings -> Controls -> Build Controls (scroll down to find it)

Some controls however are not found here but are located somewhere else. There is a word document that outlines all the controls found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Exato Game Studios\Guncraft The file should be called something like ‘_GunCraftUserControls’.

For the sake of simplicity, I will provide you with a list below of all the controls along with their purpose/use.

Experiment with controls you haven’t used on minor objects before attempting to use them on your big projects. Don’t forget to save regularly and before making big changes in case of mistakes or errors.
Making a Gun
Basic Steps to Making a Gun (Go to my channel if you don’t want to read! www.youtube.com/hibernatezhq):
1) Know what you are trying to build.
Don’t go into the editor and build something random. Find an image or use your imagination to help get you started. This way you won’t get stuck for hours wondering if you should add this or add that.
2) Find a scale.
It is quite hard to build a decent gun if you don’t set a scale for yourself. If you are using a pixel image, try to find a part that is only 1 pixel in size and start from there. If the image is not in pixel form then try to estimate the size of the gun starting from the handle. It is generally better to make it too big as you have the ability to add more detail later on.
3) Build the general shape.
Get the general shape of the gun built so that you know what it looks like. Most people build a 2-D gun and go from there.
4) 3-D and details.
If you made a 2-D shape then begin to make it 3-D. The handle or barrel is usually a good place to start from. If you made a 3-D shape then go ahead and add details to the gun using different colours to make it look realistic.
5) Shading.
A lot of people choose to skip this part as it may take some time but it really improves the overall look of the gun. Use different shades of the colours that you used for the gun to darken areas that may receive less light than others. Generally you would assume that the light source is above the player so the darkest parts would be under the gun.
6) Assigning Stats.
Access the pause menu and select ‘Assign Stats’. Now choose your gun type and set it up how you want it to best suit your needs. Keep heading over to the ‘firing range’ to test out the gun and make changes as necessary.
7) Iron Sight (Does not apply for explosives).
Now you need to apply an iron sight to the gun. This is what you will see when you aim down the sight (Right mouse button). This file must be a .png file. The size must be no greater than 80 x 45 pixels.
8) Submit for Approval.
Once you have finished everything you can submit it for approval in the assign stats menu. Be sure that you have checked over everything because your gun is less likely to be accepted if you re-upload it with different stats or almost no physical changes. The gun will usually be accepted (or rejected) within one business day. If it is on a weekend then you may have to wait until Monday for it to be approved.
Making an Ironsight
Creating an Ironsight
Creating an ironsight is a lot easier than most people would think. All it takes is the right program along with the right idea. You can make an ironsight in almost any graphics program that supports transparency and png saving. If you don’t have one then a good free one is paint.NET (found at: www.getpaint.net).
The file size of the ironsight must be a maximum of 80 x 45 pixels.
Make sure that you have a transparent background and that you don’t block the middle of the file as this is where the cross hairs will appear.
Like making the gun, try to use some shading to add effect to the sight instead of just having one plain colour. If you have no idea what it should look like then search ‘ironsight’ on google images to help you get inspiration.
Final Tips and Tricks
Final Gunsmithing Notes
- Make sure that you read the rules before jumping into the editor. (The rules come up when you click on gunsmithing)
- When you name your gun, make it unique, copyrighted names are very likely to be rejected even if the gun is good.
- If your gun is based on a real gun, try to make some personal changes and alter it to both avoid copyright issues and make the gun more unique.
- Enjoy the editor. There is no better feeling than jumping into a game with a gun that you just made to show it off!
