F-15E Strike Eagle

In 1 collection by Maladjusted Mammal
United States Air Force Replica Aircraft

Description
This F-15E Strike Eagle features the same improved, more realistic wing design as the F-15C, but is armed for fighter/bomber missions instead of pure air superiority. The four AMRAAMs were replaced with JDAMs, and the wing drop tanks were replaced with a Maverick and a cluster bomb. The drop tank on the fuselage was also miniaturized to fit two laser guidance systems.

This plane requires BDArmory, Airplane Plus, and TweakScale to work. All three mods are integral parts of the plane's design and it will not work without them. I recommend Mouse Aim Flight as well for better control if you want to fly the plane yourself during combat. I recommend ReStock as well, since it makes most of the stock parts look better.

--ACTION GROUPS--
1. Toggle engine mode (wet/dry)
2. Toggle flaps (landing mode/flight mode)
3. Toggle airbrakes
4. Fire flares
5. Next weapon (cycles through missiles and gun)
6. Fire (selected) missile or bomb
7. Fire gun (hold)
8. Toggle ECM jammer

Real-World History
The F-15 Eagle was designed by McDonnell Douglas in the 1970s to combat the threat of new high performance Soviet fighters. The F-15 was initially a fighter/interceptor capable of intercepting Soviet fighters and bombers within minutes of their appearance on radar, climbing to 60,000ft in just 60 seconds. The F-15 later expanded its operational capacity with the addition of the F-15E Strike Eagle, a two-seat fighter/bomber, and the F-15SE Silent Eagle, a low-RCS fighter that sadly never saw service, being cancelled after only one demonstrator was built. The F-15 holds the title of the best modern jet fighter, with more than 100 confirmed air kills to no losses. One F-15 was even able to land safely after losing a wing!

Install instructions:
Some mods won't work (or will be missing parts) if you extract them to the Plugins or PluginData folders, so I recommend extracting all mods to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData directly.

I was going off of photos of Eagles from google, I didn't dig too deep into the technical details, I just want to create visually accurate replicas.

Why does it have 2 tpods and only 2 bomb rails on the side? Real Eagle has 6 on both sides and the bombs are next to each other. Not very realistic but either way pretty cool. Good job mate.

You have to put them in the GameData folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData)

If you're having trouble with guard mode, make sure you've got Physics Range Extender installed correctly. If PRE is installed wrong, the aircraft don't target anything beyond very short range.

With the engine that makes F-15 go over mach 3 with ease is quite an overkill, but looks cool anyway :)

I'd be happy to! I'm working on an A-10 right now, but I'll do the F-22 next.

Extra Quack, I had the same problems! For Airplane Plus, the files have to go in the "game data" folder, NOT plugins! And for the BDArmory issue, I had to delete the Baha Gatling Gun file entirely. Let me know if you need any further help!
