What?
Do you keep running out of inventory space?

Do you wish you could have some storage space in your safehouses?

Now you can! Kind of...
How?
Q: Wait, what? Are you serious?

A: Absolutely!

Q: Are you a wizard? How do I work this dark magic?

A: No, I'm not a wizard, and it's super simple!

Q: Are you going to tell me how to do it, or just keep on wasting my time?

A: I already told you how to do it. It's in the description of this guide!

Q: That's it?

A: That's it!

Q: I don't get it.

A: That's not a question, but okay, I'll give you some more details, if you insist.
No, really, how?
How does this work?

Okay, here's the thing: the world is persistent as long as you don't exit the game.

You can exit to the main menu, but you can't close the game completely.

What this means is that you're able to switch characters while maintaining that world persistence.

This means that if you drop an item with one character, exit to the main menu, pick another character, re-enter the game and go to where you dropped that item with the first character, you can pick it up with the second character!

That's really all there is to it!

How many characters can I have?

You can have up to four characters in total.

How do I make a new character?

On the main menu, choose the second option, which is "Select Character". From there, just pick "Create New".

From then on, all you have to do is go back to that menu to pick the character you want to play/switch to.

Can I have a step-by-step list to follow?

Sure, why not.

Making a new character:

  1. Get to the game's main menu.
  2. Choose "Select Character", the second option from the top.
  3. Choose "Create New".
  4. Go through the character creation process like you did the first time.
  5. Now you have a new character.
  6. Congratulations.
  7. Repeat as needed.

Transferring items:

  1. Start with the character that has the item you want to store.
  2. Go to a quiet safehouse.
  3. Drop the item you want to store.
  4. Exit to main menu.
  5. Select the character you want to use for storage.
  6. Fast travel to the safehouse where you dropped the item.
  7. Pick it up.
  8. That's it.
Warning
If the game crashes while you're switching characters, you will lose any item that was on the ground and "mid-transfer".

This probably goes without saying, but... yeah, you get a warning anyway.

If there's an item you REALLY don't want to lose, maybe don't take the chance.

As low as the chance of this happening might be, it's already happened to me once.

Boo church spawns you right in front of the plundra. If you load gear into the box and then switch to the mule, you get a safe transfer and you can load him until he can't walk. I have 4,000kg on my mule right now.

Everyone, the stash box is out. No more swapping character for more storage.
But if you still need more... there's always the mule character options.

A private stash box in the safe houses ,would be nice.

One more thing- combine your ammo. The game currently has a convoluted ammo process where weapons 'contain' some of the current ammo, but not all. Combining it properly can give you extra inventory space.

1 Inventory screen
2 Switch weapon to different ammo type(AP to FMJ, etc)
3 Consolidate any extra ammo of the same type
4 Switch desired ammo back into weapon(by dragging the gun food)
5 ???????
6 Extra space.

NOTE: You can backup your saves in case anything goes wrong in the process.

I was wondering about this kind of thing.... i probably wouldn't try it with high-level weapons but with stashed ammo and traps this would be a great way to keep a stockpile. Thanks for confirming this can work.

He already said it might happen lol, that's why you read things properly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

never thought this will happen, but it did :D just a warning this can happen very quick at the early stage at this game!

@FYNE;>

That's exactly why I put that warning at the bottom.
