p0kiehl's Better Pantheons

Description
This mod buffs all of the pantheons in the game (except Earth Goddess) to make for more exciting game play choices.

These buffs have been designed with the goal of having the AI make better pantheon choices, as described by Infixo in the Real Balanced Pantheons (AI) mod, which completely inspired this mod.

General Principles
The design principles in buffing the pantheons can mostly be summarized below:
  • Pantheons that boosted yields from improvements have been reworked to boost the yield from the resource itself (eg, God of the Sea now provides +1 Production to the sea resources themselves rather than Fishing Boats). The AI rarely chose the old versions of these pantheons because it wasn't properly evaluating them - it only looks at what it has it in its cities at the moment of picking the pantheon. Since pantheons come early (often before the AI has access to Fishing Boats or Plantations or other improvements), bringing the benefit to the resource directly helps the AI choose these more often and more appropriately.

  • Era restrictions have been removed. Monument to the Gods and God of the Forge now apply throughout the entire game.

  • Proximity to Holy Site restrictions have been removed. God of War applies everywhere now. God of Healing provides a small healing boost everywhere, with a much bigger boost near Holy Sites.

  • Small yield boosts have been added to Initiation Rites, Fertility Rites, and City Patron Goddess. In addition to being needed buffs, these will now be chosen by the AI more often.

Compatibility
This mod is FULLY COMPATIBLE with:
Religion Expanded and Ancient Egyptian Pantheons

This mod is NOT compatible with Real Balanced Pantheons (AI). If the buffs in this mod are not to your taste, I suggest you subscribe to that mod for a more vanilla experience but with the benefit of much better AI choices.

Note that my mod Lady of the Reeds and Marshes++ is fully included in this mod. Having both activated shouldn't cause any trouble, but if you have this one active, you don't need that one.

@Comrade_Cold I don't. I've uninstalled the mod, tried to clear everything, and reinstalled the game. It has overwritten the base files

Is there any kind of guide to show how to revert to the original pantheons? I like to turn mods on and off to change things up but nothing I seem to be able to do can revert it -- be it disabling, unsubscribing, clearing the cache or even re-downloading the game. It seems to be an .xml change but I don't have the original file backed up. Please help! :steamsad:

@0cool2 delete the line that changes it to revert it to its original. If you still want it buffed, the mod wetlands does it.

Hey has anyone figured out a way to modify yields given by pantheons. It's gotten to the point where picking lady of the reeds and marshes is actively ruining games because of how nuts it is. Just need a way to set it from +2 to +1. I tried fiddling with the config file in the mod folder but its not working as intended.
Also on a personal note i do miss the +1 additional production given to reefs, but honestly i'd just be happy for the -1 prod for the first one.

Possible New Issue:TM: but I also might be smoking crack---playing a multiplayer game, we have a huge modpack installed, but the other person running Lady of the Reeds and Marshes (Modded) keeps having the bonuses disappear from the map whenever he puts down a Rice Paddy Field (from another mod.)

not sure if it's this one or the other two, but that's the interaction that I can think of and I'm going to basically re-paste this on the other mods in question.

this doesn't work with Resourceful 2, homie. God of the Open Sky doesn't affect Ox resources. need a new version.

I'm using the Resourceful 2 mod alongside this mod and noticed that the Stone Circles pantheon doesn't effect the Travertine resource.

I've been having the same problem as Reika. Game wont load with this mod active. Tested it with no other mods in play set.

Lady of the reeds and marshes is overpowered. Been playing with this mod with the same group of multiplayer friends for a while. It has become common to rush pantheon to be the one to get LotRaM. We play on pretty standard map settings and even if you have few floodplains and marshes it is still probably the best choice to deny it to others.

I know others have said similar in the comments. I feel like decreasing it to 1 production would be best and make it similar in strength to God of the Sea.
