///// Description \\\\\

Armed to the teeth with a wide array of weapons, the Reliant II Line Cruiser is HDY's newest front line combatant. Designed to meet the enemy head-on in short but decisive brawls, the Reliant is built from the ground up with fleet combat in mind.

The forward engagement profile allows the side facing the enemy to be relatively tiny in comparison to the rest of the ship's hull. This allows the armour to be extremely thick (if oriented properly) and yet grants the vessel an outstanding acceleration for a cruiser. Furthermore, the compact frame keeps construction cost comparatively low and allows for quick mass production.

It will come to surprise, then, that the Reliant's core design is in fact quite old. The first Reliant-class Cruisers were built during the final months of the Jovian Union. A series of four ships were nearing completion when a massed Terran assault overwhelmed what little defense the struggling JU military could muster. Faced with an imminent hostile takeover, the shipyard's dockmaster ordered the prototypes destroyed on the slipways and wiped the shipyard's harddrives. This last great JU warship project would not fall into enemy hands!

Now, thirty years later, HDY engineers in the secretive "Think Tank" once again see the need for a no-compromise frontline brawler, and it was decided to resurrect the old design. The general layout remains roughly the same, but everything else was completely redesigned. The Reliant is not some ancient relic pressed into combat service, it is a leading-edge warship outfitted with the newest systems available.

Trials confirmed the simulated outstanding maneuverability, acceleration and firepower needed to tangle with the best fighting ships of the Terran Empire. The Reliant II Line Cruiser is the leadship of an entirely new kind of warship for the Ori Republic, and it is expected to serve with distinction in the greatest conflict humanity has ever seen.

///// How to fight: \\\\\

The Reliant is a frontal attacker through and through. It's outermost skin is largely light armour, but the front is layered with heavy armour blocks, into which the four forward rocket launchers are laced. All weapons on the ship (including the rocket launchers and decoys) are equipped with welders to prolong their action.

The ship is capable of firing a single HDY Type 1 Light Torpedo from a dorsal tube. The projectile is a simple kinetic effector and therefor best suited to sniping engines or weapon mounts. It can be controlled either from the Captain's seat (toolbar 3) or from the port aftwards control station on the bridge. Aiming is done via an interior turret, this can either be controlled manually or set to target any heavy enemy ship within standard turret range (800m). Three timer blocks (prime tube, reload, fire) allow for easy control.

The Reliant holds a custom-built light drone that can be used to resupply the ship away from a station or convoy. The overall cargo capacity of 21 small containers should however be sufficient for many PMW reloads as well as a healthy stockpile of ice and ammunition.

The vessel has one notable weakness though: Its flank armour is not very durable and its side profile is big and easy to hit. If an enemy weapon is allowed free reign on the ship's flank, the bridge will quickly be exposed. This weakness has been lovingly dubbed the "cheek", and some crews jokingly compare it to a blushing anime girl. Captains are advised to exercise caution if faced with smaller, quicker enemies and are advised to retire behind their escort screen should the assault become too intense. The Reliant is designed for strength in numbers and is vulnerable in a one-on-one especially against lighter, nimbler opponents.

Makes me happy to hear, since that is a show I actually watched, while I have not (yet) played the Halo games. It certainly is part oy the inspiration and I'm glad you enjoy it :)

The comparisons to Halo are understandable but I'm getting more of a Battlestar Galactica feel off your builds. Particularly from the Resurrection destroyer. Great work dude!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Right now, there is no blueprint in the projector for the missile. It seems all the blueprints in my projectors have been removed from my blueprint files, including this one. I will upload a torpedo blueprint as soon as I have the time. This means that, currently, reloading the torpedo does not work!

@Augmentistic I get where you're coming from, both ships are quite similar.

it's really cool but it honestly looks like a copy of the pillar of autumn from halo
