Hi all cs 1.6 players, it's been a while since i played this classic. Here is a guide to help beginners/returning players to set up their game to run smoothly and quickly.

First of all, before you start the game you can disable mouse acceleration at steam>library>counter-strike(right click)>properties>set launch options. Type in -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd. Believe me, its better to have it off when playing 1.6.

Next, you want to set up your in game via console. To open the console press `(the button above tab, left of 1). Then type in these commands:
fps_max 101
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101
rate 20000
ex_interp 0.01
brightness 3
gamma 3
cl_minmodels 1
After you have done that you should be good to play, but if you want to further tweak graphic settings go into your in game esc menu options>video and disable all the check boxes. Trust me you dont want vertical sync in a twitch game like this one. Set your renderer to OpenGL resolution to the maximum depending on what type of screen you are using. I am running 1440X900 Widescreen.

After that you can really start to kick ass and take names, but if you want to make things even faster like WHOA LOOKOUT! then add these custom bindings to your game. These will make buying and switching weapons faster.

hud_fastswitch 1

bind f11 "cl_bob 0; zoom_sensitivity_ratio .6; cl_backspeed 9999; cl_forwardspeed 9999; cl_sidespeed 9999" << these have to be inserted every time your game restarts so I took the liberty of binding them all to f11

Now you are set to go collect some scalps, but for those of you who are still interested in reading I will share with you my personal preference bindings. These will change your weapon swap, and drop. I personally don't like using q as my weapon swap key because it really interfere with my left strafe.

bind v lastinv
bind shift +duck
bind ctrl +speed
bind mwheeldown +duck << this with shift done correctly can make you run less quietly but its frowned upon by skilled players so don't use it if you wana make some friends online XD
bind mwheelup +attack

for those of you with mouses that have the two buttons on the left side then these will change the keys for which you use to talk in game and show the scoreboard
bind mouse4 +voicerecord
bind mouse5 +showscores

There... now you are definately ready to wreck havoc.
