Sparta Reborn (Sparta Reskin Tweaks for DEI)

Description
TW Center link to mod[www.twcenter.net]

I loved playing as Sparta in the DEI campaign, but I felt that if you're restoring Sparta to its glory days and beyond then her units should match in impressiveness. After all, Spartans have their reputation to consider.

My aim with this mod was to preserve the spirit of the DEI base game while enhancing the experience of restoring a failing Spartan nation. As you take Sparta through the course of a DEI campaign, Spartan units will become more impressive and intimidating with each set of social reforms.

All told, this is a very simple and basic set of tweaks to the appearance of Spartan units in the main DEI campaign based on my own personal tastes. Given the lack of available up-to-date Sparta reskin mods for DEI on the workshop, I decided to make my own and share it here on the off-chance that someone else finds themselves searching for the same.

Features
No stats are changed, these are graphical changes only.

The images show each of the changed units and are in the following order:
  • Hippeis
  • Neohomoioi Thorakitai Hoplitai
  • Neohomoioi Hoplitai
  • Perioikoi Hoplitai (all Perioikoi units were changed to share the style of armor and helmets seen here)
  • Neohomoioi Phalangitai
  • Neohomoioi Thorakitai
  • Skiritai Machairaphoroi
  • Symmachoi Thureophoroi Machairaphoroi (same appearance as Skiritai Machairaphoroi, except for the shields)
  • Helots (all Helot units were changed, but the only change was to remove the wide-brimmed farmer's hat and increase the frequency of bandannas instead)
Note: Homoioi Hoplitai not shown as they're nearly unchanged from base DEI. I only removed the appearance of Phrygian helmets and replaced them with more of the other Greek helmets.

Compatability
Requires Divide Et Imperia. (unless you like disembodied armor and body parts going to war on their own...)

Since these are only graphical changes, this should be compatible with any other DEI mods as long as they don't affect Spartan unit appearances (if they do, this mod should still work as long as the .pack file comes first in the load order).

hey I love this mod! Is there any chance you could fix the ears clipping through the helmets? Its very distracting and otherwise the mod would be perfect!

Great work, this mod fits in well with the original WoS campaign (using the DeI submod). I saw on the TWCenter you mentioned possibly doing a reskin for other Greek factions. Any chance you could apply similar treatment to Athenai, Corinthos, etc? Essentially swapping the Phrygian helmets for Corinthian or Illyrian ones.

Just the mod I was looking for DEI. Not historically accurate, but just what i wanted for my Sparta playthrough. Thanks for the great work jango220.

AdrRM - I'd like to get my hands on another mod's assets that are absolutely phenomenal for Sparta, but the mod hasn't been updated in a long while. The author specifically requested that none of the assets be used without his permission even if he is credited, so I have tried to get in touch with him to see if I can get his permission.

If I can't do that, then I'll have to figure something else out. With the existing assets from the base game and DEI, I'm relatively happy with the General's reskins, but may make some tweaks in the meantime.
