[OBSOLETE] Fallout New Vegas Weapon Soundpack

Description
As of June 13th, this version of the Fallout New Vegas Soundpack is no longer being supported in favor of the Definitive Edition. It is being kept online for archive purposes.

Last update: May 24th, 2019

Definitive Edition: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1769400907

Quieter version (of this version) available here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1749141977

The Quieter version makes it so the sounds don't cancel each other out and make combat quieter overall (and sound very weird). The Definitive Edition does that also except better.

Update Instructions
========================================
In the event of an update (check the date on the Change Notes) and this is NOT your first time installing, here's how to update:

1. Go back to the following directory:
C:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\232090\1733560705\

2. Select all the .bnk files (just to make sure you don't miss any updates), right-click and select "Cut"

3. Go to the following directory:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Published\BrewedPC\WWiseAudio\Windows\

4. Paste the new files there. If asked to override, click "Yes to All".

5. You're done!

Description
========================================

After a couple months of work (on & off) it's finally done! A personal project I started because I like the sounds in Fallout New Vegas more than Killing Floor 2's.

As the name implies, this mod replaces 48 weapons in KF2 with sounds from Fallout New Vegas. Find the weapon list at the very bottom (but I recommend reading everything else as well).

I recommend watching the video on YouTube so you have access to the timestamps in the description (which you will definitely want because the preview video is 37 minutes long):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEnDnkvPg6E

========================================
PREFACE (copied from the video):
========================================
  • No melee weapons were changed because New Vegas' melee sounds aren't that great
  • Some firing sounds are used for multiple weapons because New Vegas doesn't have as many unique firing sounds as Killing Floor 2 has weapons
  • Some weapon fumbling/rattling noises have been intentionally skipped beause I don't have anything to replace them with and I didn't want to go fish them out of the default soundbanks (so they are silent in-game)
  • Some Fallout 3 sounds are used to fill a couple weapons that hat no New Vegas sound to use for them
  • These weapon sounds are significantly (& intentionally) louder than the default. Killing Floor 2 is afraid of loud noises, so as a result, multiple weapon sounds playing at once will often make each other quieter in order not to cross the volume threshold Killing Floor 2 has hardcoded.
  • It's unlikely I will try to remedy this by making the sounds as quiet as the default ones because #1 they're guns, they're supposed to be loud and #2 volume balancing in Wwise is a metric pain in the ass and takes too long.

========================================
Skipped Weapons (also copied from the video):
========================================
Some weapons had to be skipped and are thus unchanged:
  • The Freezethrower (didn't know what to do for it)
  • Killerwatt (official soundbank resource is missing, most likely because it's a recent weapon as of the uploading of this file)
  • All zerk weapons (KF2's sounds are better/more diverse in this case)
  • Hemogoblin (I didn't find out its internal name for the soundbank was "Bleeder" until way later, but ultimately decided to skip it because it was too late and is also a bad weapon)
  • perk grenades (there aren't as many grenade sounds in NV as there are perks in KF2 so there'd be repeats and I prefer these to remain diverse)
  • Microwave Gun (didn't know what to do for it)
  • Husk Cannon (didn't know what to do for it)
  • Helios Rifle (see Killerwatt)

========================================
Installation Instructions
========================================

1. Click the green "Subscribe" button.

2. Start KF2 so the game can download the files.

3. Exit KF2

4. Go to the following directory:
C:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\232090\1733560705\

5. There you will see several .bnk files, select all of them, right-click, and click "cut" (or simply CTRL+A & CTRL+X).

6. Go to the following directory:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Published\BrewedPC\WWiseAudio\Windows\
NOTE: If you are missing any directories/folders, create them!

7. Paste all the .bnk files so they're in the "Windows" folder.

8. You're done installing!

Enjoy!

I hope you reply to my previous message cuz I need it to make a sound mod on L4D2, CSGO offline only and HL2 :D
sasuke100 27 May, 2019 @ 7:01am
Hey can you give us a link for the actual mp3 of your sound so I can use it on CSGO and L4D2?
Bunslinger  [author] 23 May, 2019 @ 11:28pm
there is but it uses the same sounds as the frag mine/lunchbox
George Droyd MK77 18 May, 2019 @ 2:12pm
isnt there actual c4 in Fallout new vegas?
Bunslinger  [author] 15 May, 2019 @ 2:43am
Nah, as long as you install it in the correct place no servers should complain, sound replacements are common and acceptable. If it makes you feel any better, I use this online all the time.

Can I use it any server online?
I'm afraid to use this because I don't want to get ban
Bunslinger  [author] 14 May, 2019 @ 3:58pm
It would be an easy fix, but as I said in the video some of these were deliberately left silent because I'd have to decompile the original soundbank, fish through the unlabelled sound files and reimport them into the new soundbank, and I didn't feel like doing that for every weapon at the time. I might go back and do it for major movements such as that (I've already done it with the Railgun's battery pull inspect).

The mac 10 stock fiddle sound doesn't seem to exist, and it feels weird to inspect the weapon without it. Could you possibly fix this?

is it just me or the 1858 reload sounds like a pump shotgun?
