Description
Fluffy Manager 5000 is a mod manager for RE2 and other Capcom games. It handles the process of installing and uninstalling mods automatically, and currently, it's the only way of installing file mods for RE2 and other RE Engine games because the engine doesn't supprt any easy method for loading modified files.
Download and Usage

Video guide:

Basic usage:
  • Extract the mod manager anywhere (if you're upgrading from an old version, simply extract it over the older version).
  • Copy mods in RAR format to "[modmanager]\Games\RE2R\Mods"
  • Run mod manager, click on "Manage Mods" and click on mods to install or uninstall them.

For more information about the mod and some tips on troubleshooting if anything goes wrong, check this forum post about the mod manager: http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/10142/modding-pak-files

If anyone runs into any problems running the mod manager, I suggest posting about it in that thread.
Mods and the New Ray Tracing Build
Capcom released a new version of RE2 on 14/06/2022 that adds ray tracing support. This new build runs on a much newer version of the RE Engine, which meant a lot of asset formats had changed and that made most mods incompatible.

I've updated Fluffy Manager to support automatically converting some mods (mods that only affect textures, sound effects, or text will be converted), and some modders are updating their old mods to work the new RT build, but the vast majority of mods will most likely remain incompatible.

In order to use old mods, I suggest rolling back to the previous non-RT build. Instructions on how to do so can be found here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/games/883710/announcements/detail/3344500154867780166

As a side note, the new RT build contains quite a few bugs: AA is partially broken, performance is worse, image quality slider does not work, and some other issues. So unless you really want to utilize new ray traced lighting/reflections, I would recommend rolling back even if you don't care about mods.
Where to find RE2 mods
First of all, you can download some mods directly from Fluffy Manager itself. Just press "Download mods" on the right part of the interface.

Here are links to a couple of sites hosting mods for RE2:

Is anyone aware if certain mods are incompatible on the Steamdeck? Have Fluffy and most mods working just fine but some seem to crash the game. Really love the idea of the Lights On mod but whether I unpack it as instructed or activate it as a full zip file (Fluffy allows me to do this, so I would think that would be a viable option) it prevents the game from running.

The mods have not worked even though I did follow the steps. Unless the mods being non-rt effects it somehow? Yes I did also change my game version to fit the non-rt but it still didn't work

@MisterSiringo: If you download it from a reputable source, like my own site, then it's always safe.

is it safe to download the mod manager? i mean does it have virus?

thanks, it worked!

@ErnestJugend: I suggest simply deleting the dummy PAK file from the mod. Some very old RE2 mods could be installed by replacing a DLC PAK with a dummy, but those mods should be extremely rare, so I don't think I want to change Fluffy Manager install behaviour to check for those specific kinds of mods.

Yes, here is the mod (It used to work just fine, but when I went back to re2r after this update, and reinstalled my mods i get that error message) (i play the non Raytracing version)
