Why points as infected do not mean ANYTHING
By BOBOUDA
Why the damage points you get as infected simply do not represent your skills.
Not a "guide" at all, but it was the best place to write something like that. It's more of a demonstration than anything else. I did it to simply prove something quite obvious, but that many players still don't get. In my experience players have been kicked many times over these silly reasons.

The examples used aren't always situations that are good strategies, these are simply recurrent actions that we see in game.

EASY POINTS
Some infected simply make easy points, while doing easy things. Other don't.
EXAMPLE: Take a duo hunter / spitter. The hunter does well, lands on a surviror, aimed for him and gets on his victim. At the same time, spitters spawn (quite easy...) aims for the person the hunter is hugging (quite easy...) and spits (press left click... quite easy). The other team kills quickly the hunter, leaving the survivor in the spit.

Result : Hunter will have maybe 5 to 10 points for this, and the spitter: a few damage points from when the survivor was downed by the hunter + a lot of other points from when the survivor is trying to escape the spit (In the end, 20 minimum) and it can be a lot more if the survivor has commons on him. So the hunters gets at the most half of the spitter's points, whereas he has probably done a better job.

No need to give the example of the tank, hitting a car and doing 5000 points does obviously not make you 10 times better than someone who has 500 points for playing the game normally, no matter how good of a car thrower you are.
TEAM TACTIC
It is also clear when you and your team create a strategy: Dead center, second map, attack from the roof, at the right of the safe room. A jockey goes first, as a diversion, and has an important role. But in the end even if boomer does well and others too thanks to him, he'll get barely anything because killed in a few seconds.

Another one is the fact of spitting on gas cans on the last map of dead center. You get 0 points by setting a can on fire (whereas you need to know when you should spit on which can, not always easy), and if you're really good and that you stay alive for long, you may have set a lot of cans on fire and in the end still have 0 points !
BOOMER CASE
The Boomer can be the best infected, puking on the whole team, making them blind and making a horde appear, while all other infected get them easily because they're stuck / blind and make lots of points. The Boomer made the hardest and the most determining part of the job and gets maybe 60/70 points max for doing an awesome puke, and other get hundreds.

But simply vomiting on survivor down, simple as hell, and you get hundreds of points because each zombie hit is = 10 points.
Conclusion
Here were a few examples, but I'm sure we all can imagine hundreds of more.

Once again this not meant to be a guide. If you disagree, and I know a lot do try to leave a constructive comment and not a useless "All im hearing is that his pu*sy hurts". The fact is that for now no one proved me that I was wrong.

If you really want to judge other players, if you like so much calling others noobs, then do it, be an ♥♥♥♥. But please don't refer to those stupid points, they don't mean anything. The only way to know the skills of a player is by watching him/her play, if he/she can use the infected in the right way, if he/her is able to attack with others, take initiatives etc... So stop calling other noobs and start giving advices instead.

And if you're only interested into your own points, skills and results, L4D2 is simply not made for you anyway. Call of duty is.

Its weird that someone would brag about being a skilled infected when the skill ceiling is not really that high individually speaking, they are super dependent on teamwork moreso than the survivors

Ive met some uber skilled survivors that can snipe you as soon as you rear your head to attack them and they practically carry the other survivors to victory, there is no such thing on infected teams, even super skilled hunters/chargers that never miss their mark get constantly fudged if they dont coordinate their attacks with their teams

@Bleddyn / SOA Those are other good examples. And effectively, what really matters, is that the other team gets killed/incap. That's why pressing TAB during the game worth it, but only to look at the upper side, to know if their's a need to focus a specific survivor, to know who has molotov... etc.

And thx to all others :)

The only thing the points really determine is who gets to be the tank first, but that's about it.

Something else worth noting is that Jockeys AND Smokers can ledge-incap other Survivors but score 0 points for doing so. However, this maneuver can often determine the outcome of a Versus match.

For instance, during Dead Air - Map 2: The Crane. A Jockey can easily incapacitate a survivor by walking them off the edge, then climb back up the ladder and hop on another one without a cooldown. Rinse. Repeat. I've personally done it thrice in one round, and the remaining survivor left standing was easily picked off by a fellow teammate. And for those THREE incaps, a whopping total of zero points altogether.

Thus another reason why points are meaningless in a Versus game. What matters is that the entire opposing team is brought down.

You call that opinion Bane? Why would't you not believe this?

I have seen this happen so many times its ridicous, Tanks with cars and Spitters can rack up points like its nothing while the guy with a Jockey gets squat and gets kicked despite that he guarenteed a kill by taking the last survivor into a ''Can't go back zone''

Dont delte this i think ALOT of players need to see this and stop bragging about the points they have after spitting on a downed surv. Im rating this up :)

@Bane Let's repeat it another time :) THIS ISN'T A GUIDE. Thx :)
I'll delete it anyway soon, the fact is that no one ever prooved me that i was wrong and well, you'll have learned somthing.

@Philly Your point is really interesting, but it's not enough to contradict me ;)
