"Made for a Steam Discussion talking about "those grabby ladders!", this is a quick visual representation of how I avoid 'getting sucked into them' - I've figured out how to almost never get pulled into them - at all! Here are two concepts to keep in mind:

1.
Be sure to use the Ladders with the back paneling on them - not just the 'ladders by themselves' - those seems to be worse. Also, wiith the back panel, try to face it towards the direction that you enter/utilize the room the most. That is, if you always use a door or flow through the room in a certain direction, have the back panel of the Ladder face you most of the time.
Then, you won't 'accidentally' start going up the Ladder; you will have to go 'around' the back panel and then walk into the Ladder to use it - best of all, you can even 'bump' into the back paneling and the Ladder won't "grab you"!

2 .
There is a circle on the floor, where the Ladder attaches. Try to get used to glancing at the floor (you do not have to move the direction you are facing, just look down a bit with your eyes as you enter the room) and avoid going into the little circle on the floor.
I have made a quick little image of the 'little circle on the floor' I mean, shown above
I've found that if I walk just outside of that circle, I can 'miss' the Ladder, even when I am walking fast/normal through the room. As long as you don't go into that little circle on the floor - and once you get used to moving like that - you'll find you rarely 'trigger' the Ladder at all!

HTH, because wow those ladders were sure "grabby" indeed! GL"
