This way, we can figure out which are and aren't worth using compared to others. Skins count as separate weapons, for guide purposes. Of course, I'll be posting my own research into this. If possible, concrete numbers are strongly preferred. Also, here's the key of what I mean, for understanding purposes:
Range Levels:
1 = Melee
2 = Extended Melee
3 = Ranged, but Short
4 = Ranged
I will be testing against the monster Flesh Ray and I've had to assume that its health is about 10.

Fire Rate/Swing Speed = 0.2 second delay per swing.
Damage Per Second = 5.5
Reload Time = Not a Gun.
Can ZOOM? = NO.
Can BLOCK? = YES.
Damaged Handgun
Range = LEVEL 4
Damage = Kills Flesh Ray in 2 hits. 10/2 = 5
Fire Rate/Swing Speed = As fast as trigger can be pressed. Rounded to 0.1 second delay per shot, for the sake of math.
Damage Per Second = 50
Reload Time = 1.5 seconds.
Can ZOOM? = YES.
Can BLOCK? = NO.
*Can jam. Barely an issue, as unjamming the gun is simple as pressing the fire button again.
Shotgun
Range = LEVEL 3
Damage = Kills Flesh Ray in 9 hits(?!). 10/9 = 1.1
Fire Rate/Swing Speed = 0.4 second delay per shot.
Damage Per Second = 5.5/2 = 2.75
Reload Time = 0.4 seconds per 2 shells. 1.6 to reload from empty
Can ZOOM? = YES.
Can BLOCK? = NO.
*Super effective against specific enemies due to salt rounds. Requires further research. Wiki says Ghost Girl, Ghost Train and Spitters are weak to salt rounds, if that helps.
Double-Barrel Shotgun
Range = LEVEL 3
Damage = Kills Flesh Ray in 3 hits. 10/3 = 3.33* = 3.4
Fire Rate/Swing Speed = As fast as trigger can be pressed. Rounded to 0.1 second delay per shot, for the sake of math.
Damage Per Second = 33.3, might be 34. (excludes reload time)
Reload Time = 0.4 seconds per 2 shells.
Can ZOOM? = YES.
Can BLOCK? = NO.
*Super effective against specific enemies due to salt rounds. Requires further research. Wiki says Ghost Girl, Ghost Train and Spitters are weak to salt rounds, if that helps.
- CONCLUSION -
Melee:
Due to the fact that the difference between range LEVEL 1 and 2 is so small that it practically doesn't exist, and the faster swing speed makes it less punishing to miss, the Kitchen Knife and Combat Knife are tied at 1st place as best Melee weapon. However, Kitchen would be a definitive first if it wasn't for the theoretical higher damage of Combat. With all variants of Sledgehammer at 2nd and the Spooky Knife at 3rd.

3rd - SpookyKnife

Guns:
For guns, the choice was very obvious. DamagedHandgun comes first for having the best of everything. And to think that its defective, even with an arm behind its back it still won, wow! Shotgun at 3rd for having the worst of everything and Double-BarralledShotgun for being a promising improvement:

2nd - Double-BarrelledShotgun
3rd - Shotgun
