Introduction
Blade Symphony has two active versions. HP ("harmonious prelude". The current live f2p version) and legacy. ("Unharmonious", legacy pre-harmonious prelude version, no longer updated). Harmonious prelude changed some well-beloved features and currently lacks polish; as such, some players may prefer to play the legacy version. This guide will go over how to install and play the legacy version.
Why play Unharmonious Prelude?
Workshop Available
-----------------------------------------
~ 100's of Weapons
~ 100's of Armour/Attachments
~ UI / Sound / Maps mods etc
-----------------------------------------

How do I install it?
1.
Right click on Blade Symphony in your steam library. Click Properties > BETAS > Select the beta you would like to opt into (Unharmonious) > Close and let Blade Symphony finish updating.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.
Right click on Blade symphony in your steam library again. Click properties > Click LOCAL FILES > Click BROWSE LOCAL FILES > Take note of where Berimbau.exe is located and remember it for later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.
On the top left of steam. Click Games > Click Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library > Click Browse > Navigate to where you found berimbau.exe before > Click it and open.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DONE.
Completely playable now. Rename it etc if you like. However if you wish to play on Custom servers with custom maps (Legacy Blade Symphony for example), you will need to simply install two additional folders. See next section for information and links.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT THIS VERSION OF BLADE SYMPHONY BE PLAYED IN BORDERLESS WINDOW MODE TO AVOID STUTTER AND CRASHES.

The Unharmonious version is not necessary anymore. Install the new one.

I have heard that one of the recent game updates brought back workshop functionality, to a degree at least. Is it still preferable to install Unharmonious Prelude, or am I good to go with the Harmonous one?

The invitation link seems to be expired by this time, so here is a new one: https://discord.gg/RkXgRM7 .

Hm... It is hard to know exactly what mistake you've made. Revise the guide, make sure all the steps are done. If necessaery, reinstall the old version or both. Pay special attention to managing folders and setting up the shortcut.

Tried isntalling both versions to play separately, but Unharmonious says it could not load library client.
What mistake did I make?

Here is a to-be-confirmed way of playing both versions separately:

1. install the Unharmonious version;
2. make a new folder in Steamapps/common or wherever your games are installed;
3. put the Unharmonious version into the new folder;
4. install the new version;
5. configure the Unharmonious version as described in the guide;
6. test playability of both versions.

If this way works for you, let me know.

Some players get confused by non-Steam game configuration and skip this step, so here is a reminder.

Add berimbau.exe to the library, then make a shortcut on the desktop, tie it to berimbau.exe, and launch the game only by this shortcut.
