*all the Soviet "E" tanks that I know and own.

I can obviously only review the ones I own and that I know of, now with the recent addition of the Market a lot of previously obscure and rare Tanks have been brought to light again, and some may be confused at the nature of these Tanks, in this guide I shall be taking a look at the Soviet "E" Tanks.
Overview
Generally speaking: If the Battlerating increases the Tank is not worth it.

But there are exception which we will get into later for each Tank.

There are two rough classifications of "E" Tanks:

The BR keeper:
These Tanks get increased Armor but keep their original Battlerating, meaning that logically speaking they must be superior to their non-E version right? well that depends on the Tank, but because a lot of E Tanks are premiums they are mostly side-grades to not make them vastly superior and overpowerd.

The BR changer: These Tanks change their BR compared to the base version, they walk a narrow path of being overpowerd on one side, and totally useless on the other. They require a great deal of luck to not end up with an uptier, as they usually only upgrade their armor and not their Guns.
T-26E
Starting with the lowest one BR-wise, the T-26E is a T-26 which seems to be specificly built to withstand German Autocanon fire from the Pz.II's and not mutch else, the weak 15mm armor plates of the base varient are strengthend with bolted on 30mm armor plates all around the Hull bring it up to a respectable 45mm, but the armor remains unchanged on the driver's hatch(?) meaning its the most obvious weakspot, and the heavily sloped upper frontal plate remains unchanged as well. the Turret also gets additional 30mm armor plates, and with exception of the three openings in the front (MG, Gun, sight device for the Gunner) the armor goes all around the Turret.

The downside is an increase in Battlerating by 0.3, meaning if your unlucky you will be uptier to 2.3 and face StuG's, Valentines or even B-1 ter's if your incredibly unlucky.

The best Strategy in this tank is to hang back and trying to abuse your armor, go Hull-down at distances at around 700 meters or more, use natural camouflage or bushed to make yourself as anoying to hit as possible, but dont rely on your armor.
Flanking manouvers are also possible but are made harder due to the noticable decrease in speed. But you get the benefit of sometimes surviving poorly aimed side shots because of your improved side armor. (This is rare however)
The gun remains unchanged, it is adequeate but nothing to be overly confident about.
Take at maximum 100 rounds, it will remove the Ammo in your Turret
T-28E
I dont have this one so I wont bother with it as mutch, also I think its not a viable Tank, because even though you get additional Armor, the BR increase means you will be put up againts actual mediums, like Shermans, and even on your BR there are Tanks that are better at their jobs, like the M3 Lee with better armor and twice the firepower. Or the Matilda with its raw armor and quickly firing gun.

If you havent noticed yet, this Tank is massive, that works in favour of the Orginial model by enabling it to tank damage, but here you become target practice for your worst nightmare: Anything German
The StuG III F will slice through you, and unless its an unlucky hit in your MG turrets, it will OHK or severly cripple you. Same goes for the Pz.IV F2. While you can penetrate them, your low velocity gun makes it difficult. Once a sherman shows up, you might as well bend over. Even things like the Marder's will outshoot you with their superior gun handling before you even come close to them.

Another issue with this Tank: The Gun
Its a low velocity infantry support gun that is barely adequate for its new BR. The APHEBC is meh at best, but it has to be unlocked, as long as its not avaialbe I suggest using the Shrapnell round, its has better Penetration then the HE and does simmilar damage.

Its mobility wasn't great to begin with but now it is worse, and since it does not do neutral steering and is very long, turning around takes a while.
T-34E STZ & T-34E
I have already done a Guide comparing both of those including a detailed analysis of them, so I will just link it here to save us all some trouble.

KV-1E
This Tank is a monster, it can be compared to the KV-1 ZiS-5 in armor, it has a worse gun but if you get lucky with the Matchmaking, you can wreck havoc on the Enemy, a true hero of the Motherland.

Focus on killing anything German and Swedish first, their guns will still slice through you. Sherman's, KV-1 ZiS-5's, T-34's and even certain Japanese tanks will be able to penetrate you if you get uptierd, but they will have to aim for your weakspots, biggest ones being the Driver's optics and the Turret Face except for the Cheeks. If you see IKEA tanks, kill them by any means possible. Even lower Tier ones can comfortably pen your front.

The mobility is not good, its a soviet heavy Tank. Also no neutral steering again.

The gun is still adequate, although you will struggle a lot against other KV's and simmilar heavy Tanks.
Use the upgraded APHEBC shell and only take half ammo with you, this will remove the ammo racks in your Turret and give you extra survivability.
That survivability is also helped by the massive fuel tanks which can be very cheeky and bullsh*tty to get through, especially when they dont catch fire.
T-34-85E
Easy, its literally just a T-34-85 with wire mesh added to the sides and top of the turret/hull.
The effectiveness of these contraptions is in my expierience not noticable.
Otherwise they dont slow down the Tank or Turret rotation and bushes/decorations can be placed on them as of August 2019.

The only reason to get this Tank is for grinding with it if your already doing well with the Regular one, or you want the ability to put four decals on it without Premium time.
Conclusion and possible continuation.
While some are not as good as others, the majority of soviet E Tanks are fairly good, they are (as all premiums are) very good for grinding money and research on their respective BR. Some are just cool collector's vehicles. (T-28E being an exception to both)
If they or their base models apeal to you, definetly go and buy them.

I might make a follow up guid because while not bearing a uniform designation, the practise of uparmoring tanks continues into the cold war.
If I ever decide to make that guide it will probably take a long time because I do not have enough expierience on these Tanks to make up my mind on them yet.

On that note, I bid you farewell, thank you for reading my second guide and may your day be safe and StuG free!

basically yes

So an improved KV-1E?

The only problem the E faces is that of german high-penetration guns, the B is on the german side due to being finnish, and so doesnt face as man high-penetration guns.

Isn't it the same as the E tho? Minus the whole german tech tree/finnish thing.

Oh god the KV-1B, when you have russian bias, add-on armor and the Matchmaker on your side.

Nobody:
KV-1E/B when downtiered: YOU DARE OPPOSE ME MORTAL

Both of you are indeed correct, but I still dont find them usefull.

To add onto @Bob Bobbington's comment. The wire mesh also helps protect against HESH (High Explosive Squash-Head) rounds. HESH works by squashing on the outside armour of a tank, detonating, sending powerful shock waves through the armour which fractures the metal on the other side of the armour (In this case, inside the tank) into lots of small, high velocity shrapnel pieces which kill the crew.

Wire Mesh spaced armour prematurely detonates HESH rounds away from the tank, and cannot create the desired effect on the actual armour of the tank. No shock wave to fracture the armour, and therefore nothing to create spalling inside!

The wire mesh on the T-34-85E is put in place to counter HEAT projectiles, such as the ones from panzerfausts and panzerschrecks, or in the context of war thunder, howitzers, pizzamobiles, and post war tanks
