[Outdated] Horizon 1.0 - MARDEF Skins

As heavily armed as they are isolationist, Mars isn't called the bringer of war for nothing.

Indeed, if you are going to hail from a planet named for a god of war, it follows to be honed in his craft.

Led by Admiral David Leviathan, the Martian Defense Force - MARDEF - may not have the deep pockets and vast mines of the Jovians, but what they do have is focus.

Focus, firepower, and spooky space helmets.

- The MARDEF Shock Trooper, with a spooky skeleton facemask
- The MARDEF Tactical, with black plate patterns and urban undersuit
- The MARDEF Urban, with urbanized plate - also doubles as arctic warfare
- The MARDEF Dune-trooper, when you need to control the spice

Composed of multiple layers of ceramides, aramids, and other fancy bullet-stoppers atop a more form-fitting exoskeleton, the MARDEF assault exo is built for durability, dependability, and intimidation.

As part of the standard battle-kit issued to a people who, despite terraforming, have to deal with constant sandstorms, it only fits that every system has multiple redundancies and aggressive enviro-sealing. From standardized rebreathers and doubled-up exo-servos, to emergency stillsuit functions and sandproof coating on the visor, the MARDEF exo provides uncompromising survivability and style.

While costlier per unit than HDF counterparts, Mars has no rush for quantity-over-quality - especially since this mentality has worked against the Terrans, the Jovians, and even to an extent the Sirians. Indeed, while Jupiter for example may have the most territory in the Sol system, it also has the most mouths to feed, the most boots to make, the most guns to load and consequently relies on what amounts to poorly armed conscript rushes.

So poorly armed are conscripts and so important it is to employ cost-cutting measures that it's rumored that the standard Jovian conscript has a smoothbore rifle!
