What are trinkets?
Trinkets were added to the game in a free "Forgotten Relics" update. In The Textorcist they have a similar concept as in The Binding of Isaac. They are meant to change the gameplay a bit. Basic concept is that the trinkets make the game easier (by for example increasing your character's speed) but in The Textorcist there are also trinkets that make the game harder for you.

Trinkets are stored in a wardrobe in our priest's house.

Just come near it and type OPEN.
When you open the wardrobe, you will see a screen like below. This is your list of trinkets. Every trinket has its name, description, effect and score value they affect.

Below the image there is the trinket's name and its' description.

Each trinket has one of two possible effect types: passive or active. Passive effects just help you (or not) in the battle. Active effects require you to press space and then something happens.
You can see the effect on the left.

On the right you can see how will your score change if you equip certain trinket. If you want to wear trinkets that help you, you will get less points. However if you decide to wear trinkets that make the game harder for you, you will be rewarded with more points.

You can try to balance helpful and those less helpful trinkets so you still get a good amount of points.

Below the trinket you can see a little orange square. This is information how many slots does the trinket take. Basically 30 out of 31 trinkets take just one slot. You unlock more slots by progressing through the story to maximum of 5 slots.

This isn't the only limit when it comes to equipping trinkets. This is when the + or - score comes in. Your score after equipping the trinkets can't be equal or less than 0%.

How to obtain them?
There are 30 (well technically 31) trinkets in the game. Obtaining them requires you to beat bosses.
Each boss drops 3 trinkets. They are divided into 3 tiers.

Getting Tier 1 Trinket
To get Tier 1 Trinket you have to just defeat the boss. You can make as many typing errors as you want. You can also lose hearts.

Getting Tier 2 Trinket
To get Tier 2 Trinket you have to defeat the boss without losing any hearts. You can make as many typing errors as you want.

Getting Tier 3 Trinket
To get Tier 3 Trinket you have to defeat the boss without any typing errors. You CAN drop the bible if you get hit and you also can lose hearts. You also can let the bible timer run out after dropping the bible, it doesn't count as a typing error.

You also get a special trinket after just beating the last boss. To get it you need to go to the small cabinet near the PC and examine it. Then you will see the option to examine "Odd Envelope". You can't wear any other trinkets while wearing The Monocle as it's taking all the available slots that player has.

The Monocle
Passive: You can start hardcore fights with the bosses.

Hardcore boss fights have a few new rules:
• You only have one heart container.
• Bosses attacks are randomized a bit and they really like to use few attacks at once so it's harder to dodge.
• The sentences are scrambled

Does anyone know what the Cardinal Stole trinket does?

A note on Enoch Varg - you can still get the tier 3 trinket if you mess up on the microphone part

May be worth noting in this guide that if you achieve a certain tier but already have the trinket for it, you'll still get a trinket from the tier below it. This can be useful since you can do the no-typing-mistakes tier and get the reward for the no-hearts tier.

Thanks for compiling all this, really useful, especially since there's no way to keep track in-game! Somehow I made it through the whole game and didn't get any trinket from Mother Superior, hmm...

I've added info about hardcore boss fights to the guide.

So what does "hardcore fights with the bosses" mean exactly, in the monocle's description? One heart? Mistyping hurts you? Bullets move faster? (Please god no)
