Depot

Gordon Freeman finds himself on a wasteland – a wasteland inspired by Valve’s Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar.

Work your way through various rusty vessels and enter the depot.

Who knows what you will find…


BEFORE YOU PROCEED:
1. Disable ALL addons that changes stock AI behavior.
2. Half Life 2 Episodes may be required if you see purple textures and red errors.
3. ONLY use the weapons provided by the map
4. DO NOT noclip everywhere, this mod’s maps are very large and sort of easy to get lost but so long as you have patience and be careful it should not be a problem at all. If you are still confused, then check out the first video of original map playthrough posted by the Bolloxed for help.

Depot[www.runthinkshootlive.com] is a SourceSDK 2013 Mod released by Andrew Vasiliev AKA Lexxor on December 30th 2012. The author took inspiration from Valve’s book Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar and recreated one of the Half Life 2’s Beta level, the Depot. In Half Life 2 beta concept, the Depot locates in a vast wasteland which was an ocean before it was drained by the Combine. It was to be one of the many identical train depots spread along railways by the Combine. There is no doubt that the Depot is a heavily guarded Combine Facility, but Antlions will also make your life harder long before you can even reach its perimeter.

The Depot consists of 2 maps and was designed for single player only, so you can expect the least to no bug at all in your single player experience. However, this mod is also playable in multiplayer as I have replaced the malfunctioning level switching mechanism to a lua-coded working one and manually switching level is no longer required in most cases. Please place a comment if the auto level switching is not working for you.

Several places that you might get lost while progressing:

1、 If you reach the bottom of the submarine but have no idea how to get in, just use your gravity gun to pull a large piece of rusty chunk metal located there. Then a long piece of metal plank will fall and become your path.
2、 Inside the submarine, when your path is blocked by a large white tank, head to another room underneath where you can find several metal pipes and push them away with your gravity gun. If you succeed then the white tank without support from the pipes will fall to the space underneath and clear a path for you.
3、 When you find the antlion guard in the tunnel, do not engage it(and you don't have enough ammo for it if you are only using weapons and ammo given by the map). Let it chase after you so that it will leave the tunnel behind it unoccupied. Take that tunnel to proceed to the next part. The antlion guard should only be defeated inside the ship wreck and will leave an antlion hormone pod you must acquire.


Map Location: Others=>depot_01 (with an obvious map icon)
The second part of this mod is depot_02 and should not be manually loaded unless the change-level mechanism failed in multiplayer.

I could had it with the not so obvious puzzle, but knowing I'll get softlocked because I didn't kill an enemy at a precise location is something I can't really tolerate. Didn't even finish the first map and managed to hit a kill trigger when trying to cheat with noclip.

@Sxhepeppa Obviously, not every half life 2 mod has a great level of player guidance. The reason I choose to port this map to Gmod is due to its beta aesthetic. Larger mod like Dark Interval are better for you but it requires source SDK 2013 to run thus more limited.

This map is genuinely awful, there is no indication in the map to use your gravity gun let alone what to use it on. The entire map is like this, it's like the player has to be a mind reader to know what to do next

Ngl, I got lost really fast on this map. Got stuck a few times too, so I had to retrace my steps a bunch of times. I like a map that can make me think, but not enough to piss me off.
