Guide to Improving Latency on International Servers in Under 15 minutes
By [AU] Tabris:DarkPeace
Step 1: Install the UDP Latency Hotfox for Vista / Windows 7
- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979612
- Only do this if you're not using Symantec Endpoint Security, as there is a patch to this hotfix for those running Symantec Endpoint Security. Other Symantec and/or Norton Firewalls should work fine!

Step 2: cFosSpeed - The Internet Accelerator
- http://www.cfos.de/en/cfosspeed/cfosspeed.htm
- Then just set it to optimize ping and let it calibrate for your connection.

Step 3: Tell your friends
- Get gaming people!

I have since switched to Linux… years ago now.

Yes, it has a slight learning curve. It's not as much as it used to be, though, so long as you don't chose a from-scratch style distro like Slackware or Gentoo.

Yeah that is true, but Linux is not for everyone.

Or you can just switch to Linux. It's default settings are very fast, but you can adjust the settings in sysconf to perform memory/speed tradeoffs, and cpu-time/speed tradeoffs to dramatically improve ping time and reliability.

No prob.

You typed wrong, buddy, just so you know.

Some people have reported a drop in latency of 44% by doing this.
Most people can expect 5% to 25%.
