Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition has a hidden BETA for multiplayer available by following these simple steps to enable it.

1. Go to your games library on Steam, and right click Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and select "properties".

2. You should see 4 tabs, one of which saying "Betas". Go to this tab, and change the tab below it to "public beta".

3. Open up Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and enjoy!

*NOTE* The game currently experiences lag issues for some players, low framerate (at times), crashing, and incabability of starting the game. Best tip is to play with local players. The game IS still in beta so credit where it's due. It's great, they just need to fix the crashing and lag issues.

I think a big reason for the lack of players is due to the lack of Dev support. The developers have yet to fix many issues that the game has, and they also have to work on adding some things like Team Dukematch and Capture the Flag like good old Eduke32 had! I love Duke Nukem 3D and I do like Duke Nukem Forever, but what both of them need is caring and dedicated developers. Gearbox just fucking gave up on DNF, General Arcade is working on other games, and 3D Realms can't really mess with Duke anymore. I think the best things to add are: TDM and CTF, update the netcode from P2P to Dedicated servers or something like that, Add a more interesting main menu background, and so much more. I have talked to Termit about a lot of this and he pretty much told me that he is busy working on other games. I wish he would worry a little more about Duke...
