Lizeth "The Iron Maiden"

Lizeth's Elements are 100% 80% which classifies her as a Tank Assassin. Essentially she is a Tank/Fighter aka 100% badass.

Game Play Tips:
  • Even though Lizeth heals every time she strikes an enemy it is still important to build some IconStatIron.png (Iron). Without iron, you will take more damage than you will be able to heal.
  • It is important to buy an item that helps you avoid being stunned. While stunned you cannot attack, which means you cannot heal.
  • Activate your Stygian Grasp before you leap at your target. This will keep you from getting silenced, and having your enemy escape.

Passive: Life Leech
Lizeth's basic attacks return a percentage of her maximum health to her.

Signiture Ability: Silencing Throw
Lizeth Hurls her sword at the enemy Hero, causing a moderate amount of damage and silencing them for a short time.
Damage scales with IRON.

Stunning Leap
Lizeth lunges at the enemy, causing a moderate amount of damage and stunning them for a short time.
Damage scales with IRON.

Stygian Grasp
Passive: (Always Active) Basic attacks slow the target's movement speed.
Active: The next basic attack has its range increased and will also root the target in place, preventing them from moving for a short amount of time.
Root duration scales with VOID.

ABILITY BREAKDOWN
-Stacking health (IRON) is wise due to her passive returing a percentage of hp.
-attack speed is essential (VOID).
-preventing stuns and/or charms can change the game. (See Items)
-Save Stygian Grasp for escaping enemies, your range will be increased.

The Elements

SUN: Decreases the cooldown time of your abilities.
Sun Heroes (casters) specialize in pure damage spells but often lack health and armor.

MOON: Increases health regeneration and movement speed.
Moon Heroes (support) specialize in supporting and healing allies as well as silencing and slowing enemies.

EARTH: Increases basic attack damage.
Earth Heroes (fighters) specialize in sustained Melee damage and lifestealing (healing for a percentage of damage dealt).

IRON: Increases your health and armor.
Iron Heroes (tanks) specialize in intercepting damage and shielding allies, as well as stunning and slowing enemies.

VOID: Increases basic attack speed.
Void Heroes (assassins) specialize in mobility, attack speed, and corrupting damage over time spells.
General Gameplay Tips
Game Priorites
  • Defend Chest
  • Secure your Elements
  • Deny the Enemy Heros their Elements
  • Kill Heroes
  • Kill Towers

Give your teammates a chance to gather their elements! A strong team is better than a strong YOU and weak team!
Towers and Heros can switch in priority, depending on the situation. If the Enemy is back far enough, your team can do some quick damage to the tower, as the tower does minimal damage to Heros. Killing Enemy Heros comes in its own priority.

Enemy Hero Kill Order

  • Casters dps (such as Dawne)
  • Healers (such as Kyra)
  • Ranged dps (such as Calamity or Artharion)
  • Assassins (Marco)
  • Fighters (Hamhock)
  • Tanks (Bombast)

This kill order can vary in different situations. For example, if you engage a Caster or Healer and the enemy engages your Caster, you need to disengage and assist your team. This is known as peeling for your team. Try to coordinate with your team when you decide to engage the squishies.

Learn to use the PING system!!!

There is no chat, so the ping system is the way you communicate with your team. Teamwork is ESSENCIAL to win! Do not Rambo your way through this game. I get tunnel vision as well sometimes (it's easy to do when you have a lot of good games in a row), so it's important to notice it early and often, make the correction and coordinate with the team.

Zoning

Zoning is basically having a presence in order to deter or remove an enemy from an area, particularly a priority area such as the middle or the Element spawns. This is how you get ahead! By effective zoning, you can ensure your team gathers the most resources and becomes the stronger adversary. Zoning can be accomplished by being near and also by poking. Poking is using your range to do some damage to the enemy without going all in on them. A team that learns to poke will often win the trade when a teamfight breaks out.

Learning when to disengage is also a key to victory. Sometimes a fight will not go the way you planned it, so the best move is to get out of the situation asap. Play defensivly and wait for your team to respawn, defending your tower as needed. It is okay to give up the chest or an Element instead of dying over it. Learning to disengage will help you and your team minimize your losses!
Item Breakdown
This is where the fun happens. I will give my build and some situational items, however I will not go over every item in the game. I do recommend you check out The Solstice Arena Wiki[solsticearena.gamepedia.com]. This links you directly to the item database. I would recommend you become familiar with these items and what they do specifically. Your build order can change depending on how the match is going and who you are up against.

My Starting Item is almost always Iron Platemail (20). Why? I'm glad you asked. It builds into Armor of the Immortal which is a core piece to your survival in combat.

Armor of the Immortal: Once every 60 seconds, damage that would kill you instead heals you to 15% health.
50

Alternative Chest Item
Netherbeast Armor: Grants lifesteal to basic attacks.
25 25
I rarely grab this due to Lizeth's passive being sufficient. Also putting lifesteal into Stygian Grasp will make this chest overkill. I pick it when I want to troll the other team.

WEAPONS

DAMAGE
Starshard: Every third basic attack deals bonus damage.
25 25
Synergizes well with straight attackspeed builds.

TANK
Obsidian Greatsword: An enemy damaged by your abilities is debuffed, reducing their incoming healing.
405
This item is amazing against other healing teams. Great weapon choice in general.

CONTROL
Roland's Warhammer: Basic attacks stun the target for a short time. May not occur more than once every few seconds.
201515
Screw Roland, however, his hammer is pretty dang nice on Lizeth! This is great for enemies who like to bounce around, like that stupid dog!

OFFHAND

ATTACKSPEED
Thistle: Increased attack speed.
201515
Standard Autobuild offhand. Can't go wrong with attackspeed.

MY WAY
Blade of the Eclipse: Your basic attacks deal additional damage based on the target's maximum health and ignore the target's armor.
201515
Doesn't do as much stat wise. This item is so effective because it allows Lizeth's attacks to bypass armor. This item is usually most effective versus Tanks, however it is also effective against shields in general!

SITUATIONAL
Diamond Aegis: Your team gains 20% more gold. When hit by a basic attack, the attacker is stunned for a short time. May not occur more than once every few seconds.
2525
I don't really ever get this, however its utility is best used against an all melee team that is focusing you.

ALTERNATIVE
Towering Guardian: Increases your team's armor rating.
540
Also very situational, for the same reasons above except that they are focusing your teammates and not you.

ACCESSORY
Ok, this is usually what defines the game. Don't believe me? Then keep reading. Getting the wrong item here against the right team can ensure you are shut down. Lizeth is vulnerable to every CC (crowd control) aside from silence. Basically, if she cant hit people, she will die. Her biggest threats are slows, stuns, and charms. The Accessory you choose can ensure your victory, or guarantee your defeat. Here are the choices I reccommend.

ANTI-STUN/TAUNT/CHARM (and even knockback!)
Hangman's Noose: Makes you immune to all hostile stun, taunt, charm, and knock effects.
540
This item is like Black Magic. So effective against that CC heavy team that has been shutting you down! Most effective against Ava, Kyra, and Roland.

MY FAVORITE CHOICE
Nothing Left to Lose: Makes you immune to all hostile snares including the water.
405
I hate being slowed more than being stunned, so unless the team has more than one CC that Hangman's Noose can block, I go with NLtL. This item is AMAZING, especially when you use the water to cut off or escape the enemy. Take advantage of this, as the water can give you a great advantage.

ALTERNATIVE (no CC to worry about)
The Infinite Loop: Increases your team's attack speed.
201515
This item is the standard autobuild i believe. As you can see, you could be at a great disadvantage by going autobuild all the time! I almost never get this item, however, if you have a high attackspeed reliant team, this may be a decent option. This is probably also good for trolling if you wanted to max your atkspd and grab that Netherbeast Armor.
Item Breakdown (page 2)
HEAD

THE NO BRAINER
Graoek's Greathelm: Reduces the damage of hostile Damage Over Time effects.
540
I call this the no brainer because it is the go to item. It's great against teams that have Damage over time (DoT) abilities such as Ava, Dawne, Grizzle, Jericho, and Marco.

DAMAGE
Crown of Thorns: Increased basic attack damage.
201515
This is a good choice if there is not DoTs on the other team and you are maxing your attack speed anyway.

ROFLCOPTR
Gold Miner's Helmet: Your team gains 20% more gold. When attacked, your signature ability cooldown is decreased.
2525
Ok, this is really not a troll item. It is an amazing item if you are working with a team. You will boost your teams gold income, meaning your team items out faster, making you stronger sooner. Another great part of this item synergizes really well with your Signiture Ability: Silencing Throw IF you put points into the COOLDOWN tree!

FEET

Grab your Basic Shoes inbetween your other items as you see fit.

Upgrade to Steel Stompers for every build aside from an attackspeed build.
20
Upgrade to Void Walkers if you choose to go pure Attackspeed.
20
Abilitiy Upgrades and Recommended Leveling path.
Lizeth Ability Upgrades: ALWAYS put points in the italicized skill descriptions below!

Signiture Ability: Silencing Throw
Breakdown: For sure put 2 points in bounce as it will maximize the utility of this ability. I also recommend maxing cooldown reduction, however this will depend on your playstyle.
Pro Tip: With 2 points in bounce, you can still silence the ranged behind the tank if they are close enough. Just throw at the tank and watch the magic!

Stunning Leap
Breakdown: Get that point in snare first, then I recommend maxing DEFENSE. This will make you a monster threat. Do not get too cocky early game though, as a 3v1 is a sure death. Late game it is possible to 3v1 but I still would not recommend it.
Pro Tip: Save your leap and try to engage melee, then leap on the casters.

Stygian Grasp
Breakdown: This is all dependent on your play style. I personally will put 2 in lifesteal and 3 in Damage, however there is a lot of utility in snare. The only downside being that they can make your snare irrelivent with the Nothing Left to Lose accessory.
Pro Tip: As stated before, save your Grasp until after you engage as you will often win the trade. When they try to make their escape it will be available and help secure the kill!

Thanks to all you readers as well! Thumbs Up if you found this guide helpful (you can thumbs down if you didn't as well)!

Also, put in your suggestions and requests for more Hero Guides. I will consider them (it does take a bit of time to put the guide together). Currently I am thinking about making a Marco Guide next.

A few pro tips to add -
1) If the enemy team has Kyra you MUST buy obsidian great sword as your first item.
2) Never buy crown of thorns.
3) Save your silencing throw for when all 3 targets are within bounce range. In competitive meta, there will almost always be a kyra on the team. Your job will be to help your team focus the dps by using your leap and stygian grasp, and when their dps is around ~50% health, you will notice the kyra approach to either use her single target heal or more likely her aoe heal. Your most important job is to either anticipate her heal and throw your sword to block her from using it OR throw the sword immediately when you see the effect of her aoe heal going off in order to shut it down early before she can heal a significant amount of damage.
4) Never buy diamond aegis on liz.
5) If DoT's aren't a problem, buy Mask of the beast spirit for significant auto attack dmg boost.
