Configuring the game to run with DX9
Evidently, Crysis is having issues on some systems running Direct X 10 and up. Some of these problems manifest themselves as intermittent freezing and crashing upon startup, a menu mouse pointer that is limited in movement range and seems to have trouble finding buttons and so forth, sound stuttering and crashes upon map loading. Fixing these issues is actually dead simple - all you need to do is add "-dx9" to the game's launch parameters.

Here is how you achieve this:

1. Right click on the game. Click on Properties.

2. Under General, click the Set Launch Options button.

3.Type in -dx9 in the box.

Now run the game. It won't eliminate all problems, but it has rectified many of the problems I was experiencing immensely.

Tried following the instructions provided by Lita on Jun 6. Ended up getting virus alerts when launching the Crysis.exe file. Use extreme caution.

When I clcik on properties, I can't find the "Set Launch Options" button under General, or anywhere else for that matter. Is this because I have x32 windows?

This fixed the whole crash on start issue for me, after having tried everything else, it was THIS easy, no -dx9 fix or anything.

Hey guys. try this :-

1) Install the game. (for me, without the commrade)
2) Download any bin64 file link found in this steam forum. (tried all of them and all works)
3) Extract the bin64 file to produce a bin64 folder.
4) Copy the bin64 folder and paste it in C:/Programfiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/crysis
5) To play the game, go to the bin64 folder and click crysis.exe the screen will go black for one second.
6) Then QUICKLY in the same bin64 folder click the crysis64.exe the game then loads and starts.

So to play the game you have to repeate step 5 and 6 every time, but at least it works. Hope this helps someone. Cheers guys d(",d
