This guide will give you information on how to play the 2013 Diretide event. The 2013 Diretide event is playable from November 14th until the 28th.

• Three Spirits Update

During the first and second phase of Diretide players must collect Greevil Taffy to deposit into their pumpkin basket. Each teams pumpkin basket is located where their ancient camp usually would be and is marked on the map. The first phase lasts for eight minutes.






There are several ways to gather Greevil Taffy, the scoreboard in the center of the screen will tell you who is currently in the lead along with the remaining time on the phase. You can deposit a Greevil Taffy into your teams pumpkin basket by selecting the item in your inventory and clicking on it.





Similar to a regular game of Dota 2, each lane has a series of creeps which meet in the middle to fight one another. In Diretide the creeps are replaced by ghosts, ghouls and roshlings. Roshlings will drop two Greevil Taffys if a player attacks one close to death. Jungle camps also have a rare chance of dropping Greevil Taffy.





Greevil Taffy can also be stolen by attacking the other teams pumpkin basket. Stealing a Greevil Taffy will deduct points from their total. Pumpkin baskets have truesight aura, revealing nearby invisible players.






Whenever you pick up a Greevil Taffy an icon will appear above your head with the amount you're currently holding. This total is visible to everyone in the game. Whenever you pick up a Greevil Taffy it will reduce your total amount of health by 7.5% which stacks until you eventually have one hit point.


If you die while holding Greevil Taffy they will drop on the ground allowing other players to pick them up, deposit them into your pumpkin basket before you get too many. Depositing Greevil Taffy will also grant bonus experience points and gold to everyone in the game.

Once the timer for the first phase expires, the second will begin. The gameplay remains the same, however Roshan has awakened and he's hungry. An additional 8 minutes will be added to the clock.




During this phase of Diretide Roshan will wander the map requesting Greevil Taffy from players. He will fixate on a target and will not stop chasing them until he is given a Greevil Taffy or they die. You can see who Roshan is chasing on the Diretide scoreboard.

Refusing to give Roshan what he wants will result in him attacking you.





Feeding Roshan will cause him to gain bonus speed and damage over time. If a team mate is being chased you can feed him one of your own Greevil Taffy's to stop him from chasing them.

Roshan can also see all invisible units. He carries a Gem of True Sight with him at all times, so stealthing or smoking will not save you from him.





Once the timer expires the team with the most Greevil Taffy in their pumpkin basket will be declared the winner. The winning team will be given an item as a prize.

After 16 minutes the Sugar Rush phase will begin. Roshan will stomp into either the Radiant or Dire jungle to sit down and eat his candy while awaiting for players to attack him. Every player will be teleported to their fountain with a large amount of gold to spend in preparation for the fight. During this phase of the game players are unable to do damage to anyone but Roshan.




The Diretide scoreboard will be replaced with Roshans health and the time remaining. The timer starts with just over two minutes on the clock, and once the timer runs out the game will end. The timer will not begin counting down until Roshan is attacked, or until five minutes has elapsed. You can teleport directly onto Roshan using a "Town Portal Scroll" to save time.




If Roshan is defeated he will come back to life with an additional level. For every level Roshan gains his health pool will increase. You will also be given 30 seconds of bonus time each time he dies.



Once Roshan hits half health he will refresh all hero cooldowns, this will happen for every level he gains.

Including a passive spell block, Roshan has a number of abilities he can use against your team.



Once the game ends it will display the statistics of the Roshan encounter. Everybody in the game will also be given a bonus item, the higher the level Roshan is when the game ends the better the item will be. You can also compare Roshans level to the current record holder in the Hall of Fame.






Earning a spot in the Hall of Fame at the end of a cycle will earn all ten players an extraordinarily rare "Platinum Baby Roshan" courier as a trophy.
