All Text Display Secret Lines

The text display item, which was introduced in 1.2.7 actually has a chance of having a different default spawning text,
becomes sometimes "hello world!" could be something set differently, and here i will show all of the ones i have discovered so far myself.

What text displays can display on their display
Here is an in-game screenshot of all of the secret spawning phrases i've discovered.


And here is a list of the phrases i've discovered with some extra notes.

  • I'm a computer. (seems to reference a scene in portal 2 where potatOS says "i'm a potato.")
  • What the ♥♥♥♥ is this text screen (seems to reference a clip in a movie where a character says "What the ♥♥♥♥ is this?" however the source where i found this from didn't state the name of the movie.)
  • OwO, O v O and UwU (run)
  • . . .
  • :B1: (Seems to be the alchemy symbol for Thiamine. A type of vitamin.)
  • I can hear you (I perceive this one as a teaser for the bells introduced in 1.2.8, this could also possibly reference a secret in the current version.)
  • "Excuse me" he said as he pushed the child down the elevator shaft (Seems to reference a line in page six of a book called "The Ersatz Elevator", if you want more info then google the phrase said before yourself.)
  • Robots don't count (Not sure about this one. However upon googling this the first thing to come up was "In copyright law, computers and robots don't count.")
  • Sabishikute sukoshi setsunai toki (The title of an anime.)
  • I kill people... (Seems to compliment the fact that you can attach a gun or a dangerous weapon to anything and use it to kill humanoids.)
  • Sometimes, a text display will start inactive, not displaying anything on the text display's display.
  • "objectively..." & "and so are you" (not sure what these mean, googling them didn't help either.)
  • same (not entirely sure about this one, however googling it said it was short for S-Adenosyl methionine, you can look it up i don't want to type a description of it here)
  • shark (BABY SHARK DA DOO DA DOO DA DOO)
  • public class displaybehavior (kinda forgot to look into this one when i first made the guide. Googling this just lead to stuff related to the java programming engine.)

    i'll eventually add more of these notes, i think it makes this sort of thing worth dedicating time to.

now they just.. sometimes spawn activated but nothing. the devs removed the secret texts i assume

"public class DisplayBehavior" is a reference to the internal code of the text display

did you know that if you put in "what the f#ck is this menu" (the # is for hiding the bad word sorry) you will hear "what the f#ck is this menu" aloud.

"What the fuck is this text screen" is a reference to a thing a developer of the game says in a hidden/unused audio file where he says "What the fuck is this menu?" The audio file is ironically called "Whatthefuckisthismenu"

You know the text robots don't count could mean it doesn't count to the kill meter

To be honest, the only things that I could make up from the Text Displays is that some of theese are references to the game's Discord Server while others have been put as a joke or very vague hints of the game's true nature. (Acording to the game's eeire ambience and radio and TV anomalies that have been added and remove from serval updates)
