Description
New Punic (Carthaginian), Nubian and Numidian generals who change appearance based on age, rank and season. This mod is a part of the AAA Generals mod series.

INTRO
Aren't you tired of how the vanilla general characters look in Total War: ROME II? Is your immersion broken when you see a character who is 80 years old yet still looks like he's 30? Or how about when they're trudging through the snow without any kind of winter clothing - mustn't they be freezing like that? Aren't you just bored of how campaign characters always look the same throughout all your campaigns and have always wanted to give them some better looking gear to fit their increasing rank and status?

Then look no further! This mod series - like none other before it for Total War: ROME II - will solve all of the above for you.

ABOUT - AAA: Generals - Africans
This mod is part of a series of mods that aim to provide players with characters who dynamically replace their appearances with alternating variants based on three attributes for all campaigns.

These three attributes are:
  1. Age - As a character's age value increases over the years, their facial appearance will gradually look older. This will provide a visual clue to the player that a character will soon be reaching a natural death. For characters belonging to other factions, you previously had no way of knowing roughly how old they were - but with this mod, now you do!
  2. Advancement - As a character ranks up through battles, their gear will become more extravagant as befits their status and accumulated gravitas. They will even start wearing their armour openly in the senate, like a dictator would, when not leading an army after they have attained a high enough rank.
  3. Acclimatisation - When a season changes to winter, they will swap their appearance to a version which will wear winter clothing. This will provide a bit more immersion and variation to their appearances to fit the surrounding environments.

The number of variations for these general appearances reaches into the thousands - around 8,000 appearance files, compared to the vanilla game's 60.

The campaigns and factions that will feature these new generals will be:
  1. Grand Campaign - Carthage (rom_carthage), Libya (rom_libya), Nova Carthago (rom_nova_carthago), Kush (rom_kush), Blemmyes (rom_blemmyes), Axum (rom_axum).
  2. Imperator Augustus - Meroe (emp_meroe), Blemmyes (emp_blemmyes), Axum (emp_axum).
  3. Hannibal at the Gates - Carthage (pun_carthage) and Libya (pun_libya) uses the same character art set from the Grand Campaign, since it is set during the same time period. Hannibal Barca has his own unique uniforms and aging; when he reaches 30 years old, he will lose an eye.
  4. Rise of the Republic - Carthage (inv_carthage) uses its own unique uniforms, since the time period for this campaign is set a hundred years before the Grand Campaign.

If you would like to help support my efforts bringing more entirely new assets into the game, consider following / donating to my Patreon[www.patreon.com]. These take a lot of time to create, since I'm using the industry standard pipeline that companies such as CA would use to make them.

COMPATIBILITY
This mod was designed for compatibility in mind and is therefore compatible with all overhaul mods (e.g. Divide et Impera - at the end of the image gallery, you can see a couple of political screen from DeI, which shows it working). However, there are a lot of overhaul mods out there and I may not have tested them all. If you find anything that's wrong, let me know and I will try to fix it. And yes, it is save compatible - you can enable / disable it whenever you want

FUTURE
At the moment, the Numidians are a work in progress and are not yet in the mod. In the near future I will be implementing them.

As for the future of the series, I plan to cover all culture groups / eras in the game. I will be doing Barbarians next. That will be a massive mod featuring these cultures:
  • Iberians
  • Gauls
  • Britons
  • Germans
  • Illyrians
  • Dacians
  • Thracians
  • Scythians

THANK YOU
Special thanks to:
  • Patrons - For supporting my efforts on creating entirely new, custom 3D assets from scratch - without all your encouragement and generosity, those would not have been possible.

And finally, thank you for reading and (hopefully) rating + subscribing! I put a lot of my free time into this, and am glad it's finally done for all of you to enjoy.

@topknot56k
Yeah, I did that intentionally - when he reaches 30 years old, he will lose one of his eyes since that happened around the time of the Battle of the Trebia (late-December 218BC). The thumbnail shows a close-up 3D render I did of him (Marmoset Toolbag 3) when he's at that age and also at rank 10 with winter clothing. Glad you like it!

Jesus christ I just realised in my game that when Hannibal Barca reaches 30 he loses an eye. That actually happened historically so that is some serious attention to detail. I thought that the mod's picture of him wasn't actually going to appear in the game but it did.
