Introduction
This guide is pretty comprehensive, but not at all all inclusive. If you are looking for something particular skip to it! But if you are new to the character or otherwise don't know where to go, it has been organised to be read in order.

Hello! I am Archytas, creator of R-00. I have worked with the R-00 Discord[discord.gg] to put this guide together. R-00's considered to be a weird and hard to play character - I hope this guide brings to light both how to play him and how to play against him. Mechanics
N-SPECIAL / MOMENTUM REVERSE / MR
R-00 reverses his momentum. Can use in the middle of moves. Once per airtime use.
Example: If going down and right, he now goes up and left.


U-SPECIAL / TELEPORT
R-00 swaps positions with his Star with 40 frames of endlag
(If star is not out, it will throw out Fspecial)


F-SPECIAL / STAR
R-00 launches his Star forward.The F-special hitbox hit unlike all other hitboxes does not grant a charge simply for hitting Star. F-special with star out will make the start return quicker, and will let R-00 pick it up for 1 charge.

STAR MECHANICS:
Star can be moved around by other hitboxes (R-00 & opponent equally). Applies hitpause and removes wifflag. (Essentially counts as a "hit")
It moves slowly back to R-00 with speed increasing with distance.
Star produces a hitbox whenever R-00 hits it.
Star removes it's hitbox whenever an opponent hits it.
If Star is parried, R-00 goes into extended parry stun.
Star copies n-special's effect - will reverse it's own momentum along with R-00.

D-SPECIAL / WALL
Dspecial places a wall at R-00. It bounces R-00 on spawn and bounces projectiles and players in hitstun. It has 3 charges of bounce before despawning.

OFF LEDGE SMASH ATTACKS
R-00 can start smash attacks on stage and used carried momentum to go offstage. He does not have aerial smash attacks.

DACUS
R-00 can DACUS after the dash attack spools up (12 frames into the animation).
Overview
a. Offense/Punish
R-00's offense game relies on comboing characters with his great aerials and catching certain DIs and techs with Star. The battery system basically lets you stay close and combo extend as long as you can read your opponent. Once an opponent throws out an unsafe option they should be stuck in a large mess of hitboxes.

b. Neutral
R-00's neutral game is much like a typical zoner's. You are looking for specific options which let you zip in and get a combo started. But, you don't want to stall too much as using your approach/mixup options mostly use charges. You need to find the time to refill and put yourself at a slight disadvantage. Star is dangerous & useful in neutral due to the parry stun and battery refill it offers. Keeping it close to hit into opponents' vulnerable frames and off the ground is a priority. Being able to move with star and using your faster options to refill (Nair, Bair, Jab, Dtilt) is essential.

c. Defense
R-00's defensive game is very limited. His tallness, low gravity and high weight make him susceptible to getting carried offstage. He lacks good disjoints, so trying to trade in most instances is a net loss. His best get-off-me (nair) comes out fast, but doesn't hit very far away. He does have one of the best anti-projectile moves - Wall. It lets R-00 make space vs. zoners. His high speed and air mixups can also be used to move unexpectedly and return to neutral. N-Specialing out of hitstun is effective at returning to stage (though keep in mind the 20 frame cooldown out of hitstun), as well as U-Special while the opponent is still offstage.
Quick Tips & Tech
a. Beginner
- Fastfall Nspecial is a good vertical recovery options for R-00. Keep in mind it does not produce a hitbox on its own, so be wary of spikes and use when safe.
- Dash attack into a buffered Dair is a great way to cover low recoveries safely as R-00.
- Don't be afraid of over extension. Nspecial can greatly help bring you back to the stage.
- Uspecial has a bit of a float effect - If you have to teleport without charges, you can change your position using R-00's aerial drift.
- Dstrong can be canceled out of at any time. Can fake out by stopping the input and punishing a parry.

b. Intermediate
- Dash attacking off of ledge and buffering a wavedash back lets you quickly fake out opponents and keep ledge
- Dash into turnaround Dstrong will activate the hitbox quickly
- Moonwalk into Dstrong will give enough speed to activate the hitbox quickly if you cannot commit to a full dash
- Learn the angles that each of R-00's moves send Star - It's very helpful to think of situations where x angle is good to put it.
Recovery
R-00's recovery is tricky, but counterable if you play too obviously against an opponent who knows the character. Many double jumps and tricky aerial movement help immensely.
- Fastfall Nspecial is a great vertical option
- Mashing Uspecial out of hitstun can work if star is on stage and the opponent is offstage or unaware.
- Just using all charges on Djumps is a good option since it is easily controllable and not as committal.
- Dair>Nspecial is good at safely contesting high coverage. Uair less safe, but if pulled off gets you back to stage with more charges.
- Fspecial>Djump>Aerial is a good way to stall sideways in the air once and keep a charge.
- Placing Wall offstage and DIing into it can save an edgeguard situation. Remember that the opponent can use it too.
Kill Setups
R-00 is a very freeform character that relies heavily on DI & edgeguard reads to set up kills. That being said, there are a few useful setups to keep in mind.

- Bair>Uair at high percents. DI in at low speeds, can catch DI out at high speeds.

- Sour Fair>Sweet Fair Classic unga combo on DI out mid percents.

- Dattack(Ledge Cancel)>Dair at mid percents on ledge. If they don't perfectly DI out, they can be caught and nudged into the blast zone. If they do, expending a double jump before Dair can catch them.

- Dattack>Usmash, classic gattling. Works at very specific percents depending on character stats & DI, but good to keep in mind.

Most kills will be coming from Star combos, which are extremely situational and require getting a feel for what you can go for.
Moves
a. Combo
- Nair, Late Uair, Bair, Sour Fair, Star Pop, Fspecial, Dtilt, Jab, Utilt, Dattack

b. Kill
- Fstrong, Dstrong, Ustrong, Early Uair, Sweet Fair, Ftilt

c. Situational
- Dair has use as a get-off me, as a limited recovery option, and a way to nudge people close to the blast zones safely.
- Dstrong requres space, facing the opposite direction, and speed. Mastering these conditions makes the move reach its potential.
- Uspecial with charges can be used to followup on launches into a far away star, or to risk getting a better position in neutral.
- Dspecial Wall is THE situational R-00 move. Both you and the opponent can use it, and the best way to figure out uses is to just slap it down and see what happens.
Matchups
In General:
R-00 does well against characters with lots of endlag, have more static threat bubbles, and low disjoints. The converse is true as well: Fast endlag, mobile, and large disjoints generally give R-00 a harder time.

Stage Selection
R-00 generally likes larger blast zones. Platforms give more options to the opponent than R-00, so low/no platform stages R-00 gets an advantage in most MUs. Offstage platforms are very useful to setup edge guards and more safely get back to stage. Stage size doesn't matter much, but larger stages are easier to work with and reduce his disadvantage. Low platforms should be avoided, as he can be commonly clipped through them.

Moon-Walking isn't the only way to make D-Strong have instant hitbox, as a turn-around during a run also gives the same results while being slightly easier and in some cases faster than Moonwalking, just a little thing I didn't see in the guide I wanted to show
