Goal
After playing the game in various other versions, I noticed how problematic the PC port is. Because of that, I decided to create this compilation of modifications to transform the game into what it should have been from the start. This modpack brings numerous fixes and improvements to textures, models, characters, lighting, and more. Additionally, it includes optional modifications to further enhance your experience. Enjoy!
What's Changing?
1st: Recovered many PS2 features lost during the port;
2nd: Added many fixes and improvements to the map;
3rd: Fixed many beta leftovers from the game;
4th: Restored the original soundtrack;
5th: Added controller support with proper button icons and vibration;
6th: Updated the UI with high definition images and icons for better view in HD resolutions;
7th: Fixed weapons position on CJ hands, and many other animations;
8th: Fixed many graphics, lighting and reflection errors;
9th: Fixes and improvements to many cutscenes models, including CJ;
10th: Fixes and improvements to many vehicles.

And a lot more...
Warnings
  • By installing these modifications you are denying the Rockstar Games EULA. Any errors or problems in the game the contact should be made with the guide's creator or the author of the modification. To avoid problems, if possible, backup the original files.

  • Make sure you have a clean version of the game. If you add this modpack with other modifications (scripts, textures, models, etc) the game will crash or have some bugs. If you don't know how to make a clean reinstall check the tutorial I made in the Notes section.

  • If you find any errors or crashes, please, make sure to add a comment. If the problems are found in the modpack a fix will be released as soon as possible.

    Notes

    - To make a clean reinstall, follow these steps:

    Open your Steam library> Right click on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas> Select Properties> Navigate into Installed Files> Select Browse...> In a new window the game folder should appear> Delete all the files in the folder> Return to your Steam library> Right click on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas> Select Properties> Navigate into Installed Files> Select Verify Integrity Of Game Files> Steam should start to download the original files again.

    - If you are having problems launching the game, open the GTASA.WidescreenFix.ini file (with Notepad), and change the ResX to the value of your X resolution (Ex: 1920) and the ResY to the value of your Y resolution (Ex: 1080).

    - Some micro-stuttering may be present due to many modifications that are rendering at the same time.

    - Some missions can have errors because of the higher FPS. For that, I recommend you to check the Frame Limiters folder at the Optionals in the modpack.

    - If you want to use any Dualshock/Dualsense controller with this game, make sure to use a Xbox controller emulator and change the controller icons (Dualshock icons can be found in the Optionals folder in the modpack).

    - If you find problems after installing the modpack, pleasy, try a clean reinstall and follow the steps again. If the problems continues, drop a comment, I'll check if the problem is present in the current version of the modpack. If found, a new version will be released to fix that.

    Thank You.

Lossless Scaling frame generation works now for this game. I use 4x frame gen and use the option to cap the FPS to 30 on this mod pack. It gives me a smooth 120 fps now with good looking graphics at 1080p and I can finally play this game without headaches.

People on Linux (includes the Steam Deck), will have issues.

Issue 1: game crashes on cutscene:
To fix this go to the game folder and then to GTASAFOLDER/audio/streams and you should find three files, cr, cutscene, and ds. There will be copies of these files but with capatilized names CR, CUTSCENE, and DS. Delete the capitalized copies and then rename the lowercase ones with capitalized names. This will fix the game crashing on a cutscene.

Issue 2: Audio is coming out of one ear more than the other: This issue (which seems to happen on linux specifically) is caused by an outdates bass.dll file from CLEO. You can solve the issue by grabbing the latest version of CLEO (I did this with version 5.1.0 of CLEO) and copying it's version of bass.dll to your game folder. Future versions of CLEO may have a bass.dll file that doesn't work with this modpack anymore, so if this doesn't solve your issue I suggest you specifically grab CLEO 5.1.0

Game crashes when playing the mission "Cesar Vialpando". Every time I drive the low rider into the garage the game closes. Is anyone else having this problem? :steamsad:

So after downloading the mod pack, I now have 2 exe files: gta_sa.exe (from my retail version) and gta-sa.exe (from the mod pack). Is this supposed to be the case? And which one would I add as a non-steam game?

People having issues with the game crashing upon starting a mission or when cutscenes begin I have found the fix for steamdeck/linux. In this modpack if you go to main files/audio/streams/ you will find 3 files that are lowercase, the rest are uppercase. Rename “cr”, “cutscene”, and “ds” to “CR”, “CUTSCENE”, and “DS.” This will fix the issue and the pack will run great.

This mod is broken on Linux (and Steam Deck), cutscenes wont play and will crash gta sa. Instead, check this guide: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3058208538 (not mine)

Use Proton-GE (both on Steam and Lutris), Wine 8 will have some problems like broken Rockstar intro and Wine 10 will have stuttering/bad performance problem.

If you're playing it from Lutris, disable "DXVK" and "dgvoodoo2" from "Runner options" under "Graphics"
