To some users, this might be what the game looks to you if launching it for the first time. If your copy of the game looks like any of the following screenshots, Then this means that Dyad is not displaying itself correctly.

Okay, so how do I fix it?
Well, for some reason steam's in-game overlay seems to be messing things up for Dyad, which also means it will have to be disabled. to disable the in-game overlay, right click the game in your libary & select "properties". Then, uncheck the box labeled, "Enable the steam overlay in-game". This setting will only apply specifically to Dyad.

Also, any other overlay that you use for games (such as Fraps or RTSS, for example) will cause Dyad to not show correctly. You will need to disable those as well. RTSS will work with specific options enabled, which I will show in the next section.
RTSS compatibility
If you like to use Riva Tuner Statistics Server (or RTSS, for short) to keep track of your framerate in games, then there is a way to get it working with Dyad. First, you will need to create a profile. to do this, you will need to click the green, "Add" button. Then, you will need to locate the application file. Typically, this is somewhere in your steam folder. The default location for the file should be something like this: "C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dyad\Dyad.exe". You will need to follow this path in the pop-up window.

After that, you should now see the game in the list under, "Global". select it and apply these settings:

  • Turn Application detection level to high
  • Enable Custom Direct3D support
  • Change the On-Screen Display rendering mode to Vector 2D
  • Change the On-Screen Display Coordinate space to Framebuffer
  • All the other customizable settings shouldn't matter. Feel free to change them however you'd like

The frame counter should now appear blocky. This means that it should now work without messing things up for Dyad.
Is Dyad running too fast?
Some people may experience the game being sped up for them. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, then this might be what's causing this speedup. Dyad was designed to run at 60FPS. Having a refresh rate higher than 60 hertz could be causing Dyad to draw more frames to match that of the screen's display. Luckily, this should also be a simple fix:

First, right click anywhere on the desktop & select display settings. Next, click on Advanced display settings. you will then see some basic information on your monitor, including your desktop resolution & refresh rate among other things. Keep note of what your desktop resolution is. You'll need that info for later. Click on Display adapter properties for your currently selected monitor.

You should now see another popup window appear. click on List all modes. You should now see a 3rd popup window listing all the resolutions & refresh rates. Select the one that matches your current desktop resolution with a 60 hertz refresh rate & select ok. select apply And then wait for your monitor to adjust the newly applied setting. Don't worry if your monitor stays blank for a few seconds. Your monitor will automatically revert to the previous settings if you don't select the keep changes button on the screen.

Once you are done playing Dyad, remember to change the refresh rate back to what it was before. (Usually, it's the one that has the highest refresh rate)

You can also try setting the vertical sync option to "WAIT" within the options menu. That might also help (also gets rid of the annoying screen tear effect.)
The End
& that's pretty much all there is to it. The next time you launch the game, you should see the title in the main menu. Have fun playing this weird little game that exists :)
