Description
Welcome to Two Valleys! This is meant to be a somewhat challenging map. As you can see from the screenshots buildable terrain is not much, and those few place are all on the side of hills (so the 81 tiles mod is almost essential).
I was inspired by Pikes Peak in Colorado and its Hill Climb race, as you'll see throughout this map.
The map consists of two parallel valleys with rivers at the bottom and two small national highways that run alongside them. The two valleys are connected by a mountain pass and a tunnel. There are 4 road outside connections, 3 rails, 4 planes but no shipping routes.
Most of the resources are not there for gameplay, but to paint creeks and ridges. However, you can paint them where you think it's more fit based on your cities

DETAILING

I tried to make the map as vanilla as possible, but you'll still need to subscribe to a few objects.
Also, there are around 470.000 trees, so Unlimited Trees is necessary.
If the map is too laggy, you can unsubscribe the Pine Trees. That leaves only the vanilla trees and it SHOULD improve the framerate quite a bit, since they are around 120.000 (and you won't need Unlimited Trees). A few areas of the map will be empty but you can fill them in game, check the last and 5th screenshots for comparison.

ROADS

Since this is a US-themed map, I wanted to use a US national road, but those I found either didn't work or needed DLCs. The one I used is the most simple one but doesn't have tunnels or textures in intersections. I think this is a good compromise to make this map available to people who don't have DLCs. You can always upgrade the roads to something better (if you have it), it shouldn't take too long.

THEME & LUT

I used Owl's Los Angeles Theme with the Relight Vintage LUT, but Relight Neutral or Warm also work well, depends on your tastes.
Make sure to set Global Light Intensity to around 5.0 and Ambient Light Intensity to around 1.0 in Ultimate Eyecandy, or everything will be too dark.

I hope you like my map! And you can check also my other maps in the collection above!

Thank you! And that's an interesting question, it's been so long I almost forgot ahah. But I'm quite sure it's on the right side of the second screenshot, so towards the valley with the two switchback roads

I know, right? There used to be a compass rose mod but it became unstable. I wish someone would make a new one.

This is probably the best map I've ever made a detail-city in my almost 700h of C:S gameplay. Only question I have is a tad funny- which way is 'north' on the map?

I picked up this map for my new city. I like using the National Roads only. I like building spread out, small communities and industries on the full 81 tiles. I enjoy the challenge to use smaller roads and still keep traffic down. I upgraded the roads to the Network Extensions 2 versions so I could expand to the 4-lane NR or the asymmetrical where needed (for turn lanes) as traffic builds up. I'm still tweaking things before I start my build, but it looks promising!
