How to fix the special 357 sound effect when you iron sight and fire like in the mod version black mesa.

Remember that special sound effect when you aim down the sight and fire with the 357 magnum, back in the mod version of black mesa?
but now you can hear the regular sound effect and fire in the steam version, Well this guide is here to help you bring that special 357 fire sound effect back.

Read the entire instructions step by step in order for this to work.

Step 1

If you haven't already, create a custom folder, here's the link how to. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=502670746

Step 2

Navigate to the following folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms
If you have Steam installed elsewhere, or use multiple libraries, go to your respective Steam/library folder. I can't help you do this.

Step 3

Find the file name "bms_misc_dir.vpk" W/O quote, this requires GCFScape to access the file, Download GCFScape here: https://nemstools.github.io/pages/GCFScape-Download.html

Step 4

Now you can access the file inside, go to scripts folder and find the txt file name "game_sounds_weapons.txt" w/o quote.

Step 5

Extract that file in the custom folder and create "yourmodname" W/O quote in custom folder, name the folder whatever you want to name "yourmodname" in custom folder.

Step 6

Create the folder name "scripts" W/O quote in your "yourmodname" folder and place "game_sounds_weapons.txt" W/O quote. in there.

Step 7

Open up "game_sounds_weapons.txt" and find the section that looks like this.

Step 8

Change the "single.wav" to "double.wav" W/O quote, it should look like this.

Step 9

Save and exit and launch the game.

Step 10

if this doesn't work, open up the console and type "snd_resart" W/O quote.

Enjoy the sound

After following these steps, it should now function the iron sight sound effect.

HOORAY! you can now enjoy that iron sight special 357 sound effect when firing like the 2012 version of Black mesa.
