This ship is named Tachyon for a reason. It's unbelievably fast.

With an acceleration of 380 m/s² (not a typo), the Tachyon Racer can outperform pretty much anything and turning at high speeds is suprisingly good thanks to the 2 large hydrogen thrusters on the bottom. The twin mass shifting drives on the back boast a total of 160 MN or 58 million horsepower, enough to lift a 16 million kg ship. It's equipped with a jump drive and has a fully pressurized interior, but really it's all about the speed. I highly recommend using a speedmod with a limit of 300 to 500 or something to fully appreciate this ship. In order to balance the mass shift drives I made sure that the center of mass deviates less than 1mm from the total thrust vector, so you won't experience even the slightest torque.
The design is inspired by one of the encounters, I think it's called skyheart and the razorback from the expanse. I tried the Alitalia racing colors (last screenshot), but ultimately went with the martini racing colors.

The ship works perfectly fine without scripts, but will have a lot less power due to the clang drives missing. If you build this in survival, go to the back, add an advanced rotor and a cargo container for each drive and add 21k iron ingots each.

Hmmm that looks neat. Let's get in and try it.

Take off, move sideways a little bit. Not bad, but I expected more.

Ok I'm sold.

This ship is an absolute joy to fly, and it introduced me to the wonders of the Clang Drive.

Thank you very much sir

The script controlling the clang drives calculates the speed limit automatically, but you have to reach it first. Above the limit the drives are turned off for safety reasons. Normally just pushing to 100 m/s and then turning like 45° and pushing further gets you there easily.
You can also change the speedlimit at line 41 in the code manually, just set it to whatever speedlimit mod you have.
I didn't want to force people to enter the speedlimit manually and I don't think there's a way to get the speedlimit just like that, so it's just set to the highest speed your ship has ever had.
