How to Get Rid of ALL Spiders
By Somnus and 1 collaborators
I have arachnophobia [en.wikipedia.org] and that has blocked me from playing Resident Evil HD. In this guide I will walk you through a mod install to get rid of all spiders completely.

The Mod
So. First things first we need the mod in question. For this I found this mod[residentevilmodding.boards.net] at ResidentEvilModding.boards.net. I would like to give all credit and major props to the mods creator, markdaster. They are a lifesaver.

Moving on, you will need to download the mod from the link given. What the mod does is remove ALL spiders from the game. Some areas may feel empty, and you will miss out on a boss fight, but I feel that this is a small price to pay for the ability to play the rest of the game.

This mod stops you from being able to obtain one achievement for defeating a giant spider boss. As far as I'm aware the only way to get it is by using a third party application or managing to get over your phobia.
Installation
Next, we will need to install the mod. Once you download it you will be greeted with a zip file. You need to extract its contents in order to finish installation. Do not worry, this is extremely easy to do, and free. I recommend WinRAR[www.rarlab.com] since it is free and easily the most popular extraction tool in the world. It will say you are on a trial, but you never actually have to pay. Seriously, it's a joke I've seen dozens of times around the internet.

Once you have downloaded and installed WinRAR, you are ready to complete the installation. Personally I drag the download from the bottom of my browser (Chrome) onto the desktop. There are other ways to do this but I prefer it this way. Next right click the RE-HD no spiders mod release 1.0 zip and click 'Extract Here.'

Three files will be dropped onto your computers desktop: nativePC mod screenshot and readme. You can delete both readme and mod screenshot, they are not important. However you will need nativePC.

You are very close to the end now. Next find your Resident Evil HD folder. For me, it is in

This PC > Acer (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Resident Evil Biohazard HD REMASTER

In here you will see three things. You do not need to touch any of them. Just drag the nativePC folder from the extracted mod into the Resident Evil folder. Say yes when it asks to replace. This will merge the contents and install the mod. Bam. No more spiders. If you enjoy this mod please go thank markdaster. He did great work in helping me along with others.

You clearly don't understand what a phobia is compared to simple fear of something. I love horror games like Silent Hill, Outlast, all other Resident Evils, Slender, The Evil Within, etc. I can handle being afraid of something and overcoming that fear. A phobia is a literal roadblock for me, there is no overcoming it. Either there are no spiders or I simply will never experience a game because the reaction I have to seeing them on my screen is that of pure panic and overwhelming stress, not just fear. I will flip my entire desk over if that's the fastest way to get that thing away from me. Just because you don't suffer from any phobias and don't understand the concept doesn't mean you should belittle people who do. If you don't have anything nice to say simply don't be here and don't say anything, go enjoy your spider games.

This in indispensable piece of modding configuration. Like I have never seen a more valuable resource made in all my days. Seriously, never once would I think that I'd ever find the biggest waste of time in the history of the planet. But here we are! Inhibiting another generation and enabling the sad and pathetic to be even more sad and pathetic while you think you're doing them a favor. When the people that are scared of grass and leaves congregate we gotta get rid off ALL foliage! Man that won't be as bad as when the balloons come into play. Grass is avoidable; balloons aren't just on earth but they're in space and every single other dimension imaginable. Now remember these are all things that are more terrifying than Resident Evil. A horror game. MEANT TO SCARE YOU. You're the only persons on the planet that could look at ice cream and could say; "you know this is good- but it'd be the absolutely perfect dish if there was no ice in this." To that I say enjoy your spoiled cheese.

Speaking as someone without the phobia but as someone who knows multiple people that do, it seems like there's a broad range of spider-related stimulus that can trigger the response, and it's different for everyone.

It'd be nice to provide a range of solutions for this problem on a load of different games, but... don't have much time for that now. Some day!

tbh skyrim spiders scared me that's why I dropped the game

Yeah they only trigger me if they look like a real spider like in this game. Skyrim spiders for example though are so unrealistic that they don’t bother me as much and I can kill them. Prefer to avoid still though

I understand you so much man, when I see spiders it feels like they are on my skin, crawling, I want to vomit, scream, I dont know why

for some reason tho in RE3 remake I could handle them easy, I guess it goes down how similar they are to actual spiders in real life, and oh boy they are hella realistic in this one

Interesting take, Dense_Brigadier! But, yeah, it's your choice. =)

Some part of me wants to download this, because I can't handle spiders, however another part of me wants to actually get over my fear same way I powered through the guard house on the PS1 Resident Evil even then the spiders aren't as goofy in the original compared to the remake. But that adrenaline of fear made me instantly spam all my hard hitting weapons at the spiders. I'm conflicted but I appreciate having the choice, in a game like Terraria i'd get rid of the spiders as it's not horror, but being extra scared by the spiders is a feeling of horror us arachnophobes get to have.
