Description
Tesla-Matic 3.0: how cruel do you want it?

This electrical torture machine has been equipped with buttons to let you decide what kind of punishment the receiver will get. Besides being shocked, you can choose if the prisoners get injured, will wet their pants, or even worse...yuk.

For added realism, the Tesla-Matic 3.0 now requires high power and during active sweeps it sucks even more juice from your Power Station depending on its settings. The Tesla Battery is no longer used in this new version, instead it spawns a hidden Metal Detector for each Amperage setting. This will for sure have impact on your power grid if you decide to deploy many Tesla-Matics in your prison. Think twice about your power consumption when happily electrocuting half your prison...

USAGE
  • Put Electrical Cable and place the Tesla-Matic
  • You don't need to wire its DoorTimer, Tesla-Matic knows it exists

The Tesla-Matic can be used for various situations:

Surveillance mode
When set to surveillance, it can keep an eye on your Parole or Visitation rooms for example. It will sweep with low amperage at low interval to detect misbehaving prisoners in order to prevent that Parole Officer from dying if a parole failed. Or to prevent your visitors from being stabbed in the back when they meet a volatile prisoner... A misbehaving prisoner will be tazed for a few moments, this should buy you time to get a guard over there.
You could also put it in the centre of a Yard or Canteen to quickly get a grip on escalating situations with snitches, but be aware that this can produce some lag, since many prisoners need to be processed constantly.

Therapy mode
When set to Therapy mode, it will zap prisoners at the end of an Electroconvulsive Therapy program:
  • Schedule the sessions, they take 2 hours,
  • Set the DoorTimer beneath the Tesla-Matic to activate during the second hour,
  • Set the Tesla-Matic interval to 'Therapy',
  • It will shock prisoners at the 25th minute of the hour, near the end of the program.
Be aware that the higher the Amperage you feed them, the longer they will stay tazed in the room.
If you need them to get the fk out of there before the next session starts, then it's best to just give them a 'Low amperage' shock. Prisoners Attendance and Success Chance are halted while tazed, so if you want them to pass the program, this is why you need to set the mode to 'Therapy'.

Torture mode
Go have fun with doing random experiments with prisoners you truly hate. Configure the amount of Amperage at a desired interval and enable the side fx if you wish to settle your needs.

A typical place to deploy Tesla-Matic 3.0 is at your Solitary wings, where you think an isolated prisoner is just not punished enough already. If you enable Damage as well, then it might be a good idea to have an Infirmary nearby - otherwise your doctors keep walking through the whole prison to heal them. Leaving shocked prisoners wounded without attention will have a negative impact on the Health rating of your prison in the Prison Grading.

BUTTONS
- You can specify the operating range between 3 and 15 square meters with the Range buttons.

- The Amperage setting can be low, medium, high, ultra or insane. When on low, electroconvulsive shocks have less impact on prisoners and will use less power than at ultra setting. The 'Insane' Amperage setting requires at least 1 capacitor added to your Power Station in order to prevent it from shutting down sooner or later.

- The Interval button decides how many shocks prisoners get within an hour. You can set it to low/medium/high/therapy/surveillance, meaning approximately every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes or once per hour. Surveillance is using realtime seconds instead of the game hour clock, and zaps every 10 seconds.

- You can toggle between shocking everybody, or only misbehaving (=escaping, rioting, fighting, destroying or spoiling) prisoners. 'Only misbehaving' will zap, say 4, fighting prisoners in a crowd of 49. For this to work good, the Interval should be at Low or Surveillance. Surveillance mode just allows 'only misbehaving', and not 'everybody'.

- Button Ignore Nobody: the fortunate prisoner(s) (injured or not) will generously get several shocks in a row until they are smoking.

- The buttons Bladder and Bowels define what they will do in their pants.

- Button Damage: combined with Ignore Injured this will give only one shock per prisoner. Once injured he/she won't receive a new shock, unless you specified to Ignore Nobody.

- When Damage is on you have a choice between Not Deadly, Suffer and Die or 1 Shot 1 Kill setting.

- You can toggle the Bursts and Smoke on or off, to give things an even more morbid effect if you wish. Note: a lot of smoke might bring a lot of lag as well. Same for spawning prisoner bursts on a lot of prisoners.

- The most nasty button is the Shock NOW. It will override the Interval setting and deliver an immediate shocking sweep. This can be used for an 'emergency' situation, but it can also be abused, since there is no brake on this one. If you want to push it to the limits and need to stress-release a bit, why not click it 125 times in a row... See if I care if your game crashes due to mass abusing this button.

ADDED CONTENT
  • 1 new Object: Tesla-Matic 3.0 (found in the Objects menu)
  • 2 new Rooms: Torture ECT & Electroconvulsive Therapy
  • 5 new QuickBuilds: Torture ECT (empty rooms, place a TeslaMatic where you want) & Electroconvulsive Therapy

NEW REFORM PROGRAMS
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy: 2 hours, 1 session of shocking pleasure for those who murdered a prisoner or attacked the staff.
  • Anti Alcohol ECT and Anti Drugs ECT: 2 hours, 1 session. Inmates with a drugs record are sent here by the Psychologist or Doctor, in order to get rid of their addiction by 'experimental electrical impulses'.
  • Voluntary ECT: 2 hours, 2 sessions for those prisoners with problems they carry from the past, who have tried everything else already but still ended up in prison, and who are open for experimental positive brain stimulation via electric impulses.

You decide what happens during these reform programs by configuring the Tesla-Matic. Prisoners attending these programs will get a calming effect. These therapy sessions can be scheduled outside of Work, prisoners can be escorted, it's repeatable, and lead by a Tesla-Matic Expert and a Shady Tesla Dude (both require office, carry the same name as in Tesla 2.0, but are different entities).

NEW RESEARCH
  • Torture Cells: a top secret and expensive file at the end of the Tazer Rollout branch which nobody should know about...

COMPATIBILITY
Tesla-Matic 3.0 is an improved version of the Tesla-Matic 2.0 mod.
Both mods can be used at the same time.
They use different grants, reform programs, rooms and objects so it should all be compatible.
If you already have Tesla-2.0 then you don't need to research for 3.0 since the research is the same.

Mod update:

- repositioned the research box to prevent overlapping
- fixed TeslaMatic losing powercable when cycling through the Amperage setting.

Sometime the wire cable powering the tesla would glitch and disappear after changing the setting on the tesla. But it definitely kill the unwanted prisoner. I couldn't get rid of my 100 year old prisoner. thanks to your mod, he is gone.

Which programs are good to brainwash inmates into good citizens?

Interesting, sounds like they slip through the 10 second interval indeed. I shall fix that.

TLDR: How do I get teslas to work and help reduce my parole murder spree?

Can anyone advise what I can do to sort 'surveying' teslas not shocking misbehaving prisoners in parole rooms. I have very low paroles set, to aid my released stats, but the byproduct of that is a lot of unhappy drug addled prisoners denied patrol. They kick off a lot, yet my teslas have yet to kick in and shock them of their own accord. I've lost at least 10 parole staff to murders and I'm going to have to up guard allocation at this rate. I have set the teslas to survey, shock misbehaving, they're powered, zoned to 15m2, and the door timer is on for all hours (+ 1-2 hour overlap afterwards) parole programmes run. It could be that the 10 second sweep - which is actually quite a while - just doesn't catch them, or am I just missing something obvious? The light shows green during active hours and it looks like it sparks up periodically, but hasn't yet caught a misbehaving inmate. Any help welcome.

i mean im not using the 1 hit kill option, so i just want to taze the entire prison at once i guess lol
murgh  [author] 8 Mar, 2021 @ 1:11am
Well it's there to prevent people from killing the whole prison at once...

is it possible to disable the 50-prisoner limit?
