Make sure it connects to both 1x1x1 scalable bricks. Make sure the gap between the two 1x1x1 bricks is not too small or big

What you can do to fix this is to shift the bricks closer or further depending on it's position.

If the 2x1s cylinder connects to both bricks the whole structure should be recursively connected, thus you are finished!

Thank you. It is a bit of an old tutorial and the building method is a bit outdated, but for new players it's definitely helpful since it's relatively simple.
