Install
  1. Download the fix from PC Gaming Wiki here *download*[community.pcgamingwiki.com].
  2. Extract the file dinput8.dll to the folder containing the executable of the game. ***\Steam\steamapps\common\FEAR Ultimate Shooter Edition
  3. Start the game.

Uninstall

  • Remove the file from the game folder.
This will also fix the same bug in different games using the same engine like Criminal Origins.
Solution 2
Go into the Start menu and right-click "Computer".
From there, go to "Device Manager" and choose "Human Interface Devices".
You are going to want to disable all "HID-Compliant Device", you should not need to disable ANYTHING else.
You might need to restart after doing this.

Note:
For the most part, these are used for the interfaces on the keyboards, which is why there is anywhere from 3-7, any applets will be disabled until these HID devices are re-enabled.

Have fun!
