[WOTC] Don't Pull That Trigger

Omschrijving
Summary
You starts new campaign, meets Warlock, and then Haven Assault occurs as retaliation on Warlock's territory. oof.
I have too many salty experiences with civilian militia, where they detonates spectral zombies and kills our temporarily mind controlled soldiers.
This mod prevents them to shoot spectral zombies that prepare to explode and units that mind controlled.

What I did?
Remove 'Standard Shot' ability from all tier of militia rifles, then add 'New Standard Shot' ability to them so that militias can't target ignited spectral zombies and mind controlled units.

Compatibility
Basically works with everything.
But if militia didn't shoot any valid target, try to find other mods that rewrites EquivalentAbilities=( KeyName=StandardShot) in XComAI.ini. then simply add EquivalentAbilityName[X]=DPTT_MilitiaStandardShot in last of array.
Also, as I only rework militia rifles, it will not work with militia that utilize different weapon.
Be aware it affect not only civilian militia but also any unit that equip militia rifle, regardless of team.

Working on mid-campaign/tactical?
Works on mid-campaign, but definitely not mid-tactical (especially there is existing militia).

Known Issue
Nothing at this moment.
I hope there is no critical problem.

just make sure you either have a way to get them out quickly or stabilize them (or that your specialist wasn't the one bleeding out their restoration ability is honestly pretty broken) it's still better to negate the mind control through mind shield obviously but this will make it much less annoying early game

@jat11241976 not really but [WotC] Mind Controlled Soldiers Bleed Out will make it so they don't die when receiving lethal damage

Stupid question, but is there a similar mod for your own troops to not kill their own mind controlled teammate? I was testing on Gatecrasher, and a sectoid mind controlled one of my troops. He took an overwatch shot, threw a grenade that injured 1, killed another right away (from a fall), exposed another to a killing flank shot due to cover being destroyed. The surviovor killed her with return fire (RPGO). Hilarious, yes. Glad i caught it while testing though

Militia can no longer get Headshots against the Lost with this. To fix it you need to add DPTT_MilitiaStandardShot to valid Headshot abilities in XComGameData_SoldierSkills.ini :

[XComGame.X2Effect_TheLostHeadshot]
+ValidHeadshotAbilities=DPTT_MilitiaStandardShot

Thank you for this mod. These morons just killed 3 of my mind controlled soldiers before I could do anything. I hope that this stupid situation won't happen again.

Thanks!

Is there a way to have this mod also affect targets with Kinetic Plating? Having the Warlock show up and get free health by Resistance fighters missing 8% potshots at him was the opposite of fun.

No worries. lol.

@Haywire Because I touched only vanilla militia rifles, and didn't other mod's contents. I described that it will not affect militia that have other weapons in description.

@KimKast
Will there eventually be support for things like allied raiding parties or will it just be militia? I just had a skirmisher "allied" group:
1. Throw a grenade at two spectral zombies (and my psi soldier)
2. Shoot the zombie that was set to rupture, thus exploding near 4 of my troops
3. Shoot the VIP (which I really needed alive for the intel)
4. Shoot and kill my psi soldier that got mind controlled by the Warlock.

All that in one mission. I can laugh now but... ugh.
