1. Hover over the object you want to edit.
2. Scroll down to the material you want to edit in the menu that pops up.
3. Press "Q" to open your spawn menu.
4. Go down to "Render" and click "SubMaterial."
5. Choose a material.
6. Click your left mouse button to apply the material. Thats it!
