【UPDATES】

- Added a note on Final Dark about passing Super Stat Down I & II onwards in your next playthrough for a Necromancer Charlotte. This only works if Riesz is not in your party however.
Special thanks
- Square Enix for actually releasing a remake of this game.
- mana.fandom for the translation of the really cool class descriptions.
- Schutzengel for the inspiration to do this, for early information, and diverse item+spell information and being a boon to the community regarding information.
- Shuichi Niwa for the Alternative Names Patch and community engagement.
- darth.crevette for moonrune corrections and community engagement.
- Hiroki Kikuta for the soundtrack and the Indivisible soundtrack.

Basic Information
These guides will include the Class names used in the remake on top of the original names included with the Translation Correction fan-patch.

Class Changing benefits
  • Locked Abilities: When changing your class you gain access to class-specific abilities that are always activated and do not take up an Ability slot; forgoing the necessity of equipping it. These persist to the next class you change to afterward as an added bonus, on top of the newly gained one from the next class.
  • New Class Strike: Each new class comes with its own Class Strike, some are intentionally left weaker than the rest but tend to be fun.
  • Attack Combo: While straight forward, you gain a welcome bonus of a new combo to use for Class 2 and 3.
  • CS gauge: increases to 300% and 400%, respectively
  • 2 Ability slots added.
  • (Obviously) New abilities to learn.
  • A stat increase to your base stats depending on the class you pick.
Do not be confused when you see the class change window and it tells you that your character is gaining 10+ Attack+Strength or the related stats. You do not gain a total bonus of +20 in "damage", Attack is equal to the Strength you have so you are gaining 10 Attack from having 10 in Strength.
  • ATK = STR + Weapon Attack
  • DEF = STM + Equipment Defense
  • MGC ATK = INT + Weapon Magic Attack
  • MGC DEF = SPRT + Equipment Magical Defense

MOVES and their types
Everything that your character can learn that costs some form of MP to cast is called a MOVE, but a lot of the equipable Abilities sometimes have specific wordings on them that might not be obvious at first to what they might increase. Most would refer to all of these as Spells but for now they will be aggregated to their simplest description of function, i.e spell/healing, etc.

Riesz

【Amazon】

Class Strike:
  • Whirlwind Spear: Riesz summons up a whirlwind that covers a good area in front of her, it also sucks in any nearby enemy into it as she then darts forward and pierces them. This is by far the most effective Class Strike of the starting characters.
Attack Combos:
  • 1st: A fast wide frontal swing that knocks enemies back on hit.
  • 2nd: A wide sweep that covers a lot of ground.
  • Class 2: Charging spear thrust, covers some distance.
  • Class 3: A triple-hit spear jab.

Stats
  • Max STR & SPRT, spend a little in LUCK or save points until class change.
    • Feel free to use Pinpoint in LUCK if you really want it, it is a chain and can be used on anyone.

Riesz remains a consistently balanced character to have in your party, she will always have a spot in any party who wants strong buffs or debuffs once she changes her class. Though some class choices of hers are arguably better to play as the Main character due to their functionality and Abilities, the opposite choices remain strong choices for Buff/Debuff support.

【As Light】
Light gains Stat-Up spells as part of its gameplay and is generally considered helpful. Though you can bring these same buffs through items from the Night Market in Beiser, there is value in playing as Light since they can strengthen these buffs further that items cannot.
    • Weaker than Dark as an offensive attacker, stat-boosting Abilities and Spells help with this.

    • The remake improved upon the buffs with the addition of Abilities, as well as equippable Stat-Boost Abilities that are entirely passive.

    • You can dispel your party of any DeBuffs they receive through just casting your Buffs again, though you have to cast it twice if you want your buffs back.

    • Starlancer makes these buffs last for the entire duration of combat and is a fantastic class to have as a Party member. Buffs last 1 minute by default not including abilities.

    • Vanadis is best utilized by the player due to its Abilities relying on you keeping your health up.

【As Dark】
Dark gains Stat-Down spells as part of its gameplay, Stat-Down's are also much harder to come by as items and grows in potency as you fight stronger enemies. Though it is lacking in good Ability choices, you should give it any Attack/Offense based CHAIN Abilities you might find to make good use of its increased attacking power.
    • Much higher base ATK than its Light counterpart, Stat-Down pushes this further.

    • Though lacking in any persistent (passive) Stat-Down effects opposite to Light, there are Abilities that none-the-less increases the potency of the Stat-Downs you have.

    • You can dispel enemy Buffs by casting your own DeBuffs, same as Light you need to cast it twice should you want your DeBuff to re-apply itself on the enemy.

    • Fenrir Knight makes these last for the entire duration of combat and is a fantastic class to have as a Party member. DeBuffs last 1 minute by default not including abilities.

    • Dragon Master is very much a class that should be exclusively played by the Player due to its Locked-Ability, which increases your ATK even further by 20%, but requires you to be at 100% health for it to work.

      • Heavily recommend you pair it with Light Charlotte for Recover Break, which applies a health shield when healed above 100%.

Class 2: Light

【Valkyrie】
Within myth, it is said that there are experiences that can only be explained as spiritual awakenings; an elevated sense of spiritual awareness, calls from the spiritual realm, visions and messages from the heavens, or even summonings and quests through to the other side. Within Fa'Diel, to those who walk the ways of the warrior, even those who go through their lives fighting come to experience these transcendent experiences at one point or another, with many legends and stories telling of prestigious warriors bearing themes of undergoing this allusive phenomenon. To one such class of warriors, none could have more prevalent callings than that of the Valkyrie. Taking up the mantle of the divine warriors said to be seen alongside the Mana Goddess and act as Her messengers and guides of the souls of those who have recently passed, the Valkyries of the mortal world act just the same, taking up heavenly vows to uphold the sacred orders of ensuring the stability of Fa'Diel and to enact divine justice wherever there has been wrong, with rightful judgment to correct or even send beyond when circumstances permit. With their elevated experience of becoming closer to the spiritual realm, so have Valkyries attained higher levels of spiritual sensitivity and understanding the power of the soul, allowing them the ability to unlock the inner power and potential within all things.

Abilities:

  • [Use later] (INT 9) Stat Boost
  • [Optional] (SPRT 12) Stat Boost MP Saver

    Additional optional choices:
    • (LUCK 4) Pinpoint
    • (LUCK 9) Magic Smash
Stats:
  • Max STR for personal damage and Attack Boost All.
  • 9 points in INT for Stat Boost.
  • 9 points in SPRT for Buff spells, more points if you want Riesz to use Poto Oils.
  • Spend points however you like, you can always reset your points in Beiser (Night Market).
Note:
  • Bountiful unfortunately does not work with Poto Oils from the Night Market in Beiser.
  • Use Magic Smash if you have no one to provide your Spellcasters with a magic debuff upon the enemy, or equip it on someone with fast attacks. Also increases Class Strike damage for your party.

Stat Boost early into the game won't provide you with much of an increase just yet, it is however, core to your Stat increase buffs around level 35-40 and up. If you don't want to use it you might as well play another class entirely and use Buff items from the Night Market in Beiser (Bulette / Sahagin / Drake 'Scales').

Riesz has a few ways of moving on, Attack Boost All might not necessarily benefit Angela as a whole but it benefits Riesz's own power and whoever else is in the party (Class Strike damage as well for everyone); and you are going to be hitting stuff constantly anyway so make the most of it.

Choices remain very ambiguous due to the nature of her next 2 class choices, her Spirit increase makes her a good candidate to semi-support your team with group-healing through Poto Oils.

Locked Ability:
  • Mana Blessing: Recover 7% of HP for all allies after winning a battle
Class Strike:
  • Light Lance: AREA-ATTACK; Targets area in front of her - Riesz bombards the area with light and has a short cast time with this, it targets a large area straight ahead of her so do stand at a distance when using. Enemies can actually walk away from it or get pushed away from the final explosion. Good on Bosses with multiple hitboxes.

【Build Suggestions】
Abilities:
  • (STR 4) Counter
  • (STR 12) Attack Boost All
  • (STR 27) Light of Guidance
  • [Optional] (INT 9) Stat Boost
  • [Optional] (LUCK 27) Random Buff
  • Free choice

    Additional optional choices:
    • (LUCK 21) Extra Potent

    • (STA 12) Winning Heal
    • (LUCK 4) Pinpoint
    • (LUCK 9) Magic Smash
Notes:
  • Extra Potent is the reason that Stat Boost is optional this time - it only gives Riesz the baseline spell without Stat Boost applied. It is a Chain, however, it only gives you a buff if you have the ability to throw one yourself, can be applied to Nomad Hawkeye.
    • Works on: ATK / DEF / MGC / Hp / Crit Up

  • Random Buff - Can sometimes grant you a secondary Stat Up effect, but it can also give you Critical Up, the chance is equal between all buffs and you can sometimes just refresh the ones you have if you don't get what you want.
    • Works with Stat Boost.

  • Oracle - Gives whomever uses it the baseline buff increases ATK / DEF / MGC, but also MaxHP increase, all of them do not work with Stat Boost. You only override any improved buffs you might have sent out.

  • Freya is really awkward, for all intents and purposes she is an automatic 1-shot against monsters due to Change Form; which makes it so that enemies die in 1 hit and grant you 0 experience. Her Boss hitbox capability is equally awkward due to firing off in a straight line.

Vanadis is a strange one and could have been a better class, use any of her optional slots for utility out of any Chain abilities you might have unlocked. If it had Healing Light it'd make more sense with the STA and SPRT increase it gets, but you should definitely use Poto Oils if able. The Stat points are really hard to go in the right direction with this class and only in Class 4 will you have more solid and clear-cut choices to help yourself and party out.

Spend your points where ever you wish and reset if you'd like once you change class, Vanadis choices are all weird.

Official Description: Starlancers is a balanced class that can support the party by strengthening them in battle. They can learn magic to boost stats and have their own fair share of stamina.

    • (STA 27) Defense Boost All
    • (INT 27) MGC Boost All
    • (SPRT 27) MGC DEF Boost All
Stats:
  • 21 points into SPRT, unless you want MGC DEF Boost All which is 6 points away.
  • Free point spending, adapt to your party.
Notes:
  • Boost All abilities of the same type stack with each other.

  • Good Luck triggers individually for each one who gets buffed, and has no visual indicator for when it happens. You mostly notice it due to a noticeable difference in the damage you do or take.

  • The AI likes to spam Seraph (Marduke) if you have it, it's not half bad but it's not amazing either, the damage tends to be mediocre at times.

  • Normally I'd list Magic Smash, but it's a CHAIN and can be given to anyone.

Now we get to the most popular class in the game, and what an update she received on top of the visual upgrade! The reason Attack Boost All is optional this time around is because you might not want to use her attacking power, or just want her for the stat increases she gives (She should be set to at least attacking more).

Attack Boost All helps her own attacking power as well and increases everyone's Class Strike damage to some degree, but adapt her boosts accordingly to completely fit your own personal needs.

You shouldn't try to fish for Good Luck procs, but just using any Buff once for the entire party is almost guaranteed to grant an improved version of the buff immediately to one of them and is quite large.

Class 4: Final Light

【Meteorite / Meteor】
One of the topmost Amazon classes. Meteorites have the stamina of a Vanadis and the support abilities of a Starlancer. They are the bedrock of support that leads their party to victory.

Locked Ability:

Class Strike:
  • Elysium Slash: AREA-ATTACK; Very large area, final explosion is smaller - Riesz literally upgrades her Level 1 Class Strike into a massive galactic holy tornado, instead of piercing them she calls down a meteor infused with the same energies and crashes it upon the enemy.

【Vanadis】
Abilities:
  • (STR 27) Light of Guidance
  • (STR 12) Attack Boost All
  • (STR 53) Attack Boost All III
  • [Optional] (INT 9) Stat Boost
  • [Optional] (LUCK 27) Random Buff

    • (STA 53) Defense Boost All II
    • (INT 53) MGC Boost All II
    • (SPRT 53) MGC DEF Boost All II

At this point in the game you are well into being unstoppable, but Vanadis still manages to be inefficient in its Ability choices. How you play is up to you, thankfully Meteor opens up some new options that can help herself and the party even more. Due to having fewer options than Starlancer, and the nature of Vanadis, we'll try to improve her offense. Extra Potent from Vanadis still only gives you the baseline buff, so up to you if you want it.

【Starlancer】
Abilities:
  • (INT 9) Stat Boost
  • [Optional] (LUCK) Good Luck I & II

    Pick any combination :
  • (STR 12) Attack Boost All
  • (STR 27) Attack Boost All II
  • (STR 53) Attack Boost All III

  • (STA 27) Defense Boost All
  • (STA 53) Defense Boost All II

  • (INT 27) MGC Boost All
  • (INT 53) MGC Boost All II

  • (SPRT 27) MGC DEF Boost All
  • (SPRT 53) MGC DEF Boost All II
Note:
  • Do reset your points and grab what you want/need.
  • On a realistic normal playthrough you'll be able to grab two 53 point stat boosts, and one more depending on.
  • Good Luck I & II do stack, and having them both increases its reliability in getting an extra boost; but mostly one of them.
    • You probably want this to trigger mostly on your main damage dealer, thus the unreliable and questionable nature on the party.
    • Do not try to fish using multiple casts to get both to trigger, there is no visual indicator other than the damage you might do or take and just wastes your time, but by all means do it if you want.
Unironically stacking the boosts together, because why wouldn't you increase their potency and effect anyway? If you happen to have CHAIN abilities from your party members that are strong, do equip them and leave out the weaker Boost like Rank 1 Attack Boost. You are already unstoppable so you can pick whatever you want and have a go at it.

Class 2: Dark

【Rune Maiden】
A shadowy and enigmatic order of warriors who have dedicated themselves to a long-forgotten god of war, Rune Maidens tread a way of mysticism forged through battle and violence, a warpath fraught with unknown danger and neverending carnage that baptizes them in bloodshed and destruction to understand the darker truths of the world, to attain lofty elucidation of the realm of fighting and the true nature of conflict. So as their vows adhere them to be fated to live to their last breath fighting, Rune Maidens also take a vow to purity and abstinence to become the sacred heralds of their god; a vow alleged to temper their souls and harden their hearts with determination and motivation strong enough to bolster the instinct to survive and the fighting spirit to brutalize opposition and attain victory, and bestows upon them mystical powers to waste away foes to drive forward opposition to their annihilation. But as they walk this path of darkness, their way becomes more narrow and sharper than any edge as temptation runs high, the truths they will face may be more awful and bleak than they can realize to accept, wounds on their soul can become more fatal than those of the flesh, and that journey's end will most likely not give way to salvation.

Stats:

    • Save points until class change.
  • Dragon Master

    • Max STR & LUCK
    • Save points until class change.
Notes:
  • Stat Down MP Saver can be used if you want it this early, but you are most likely using your debuffs on bosses mostly. Dragon Master doesn't have much use for it.
  • Charger is literally for your Charge Attacks, not the Power Attacks which are part of your combos.

Now if only Rune Maiden had something better than Charger, this would have been a fantastic class. The Passive playstyle is just smashing your enemies in and is viable early in the game until class change, though there is no Broken Lines for her class (for Defense Decrease) you can most certainly equip it as a CHAIN depending on need. Your Class Strike will carry you through many battles when applied correctly so get a feel for it. Check stats again if you are going either Fenrir Knight or Dragon Master

Yearning for the fated time to raise hell and for all of its wrath to unleash upon all, the Fenrir Knight is said to take on the name of the dreaded evil devil wolf of legend, who is believed to be destined to devour the Mana Goddess upon the end of the world. Devoted to the harbinger of the end of days and to the ultimate battle to end all battles, so have Fenrir Knights thrown themselves into inhumane and barbaric ways to prepare for that war that will never end when chaos reigns, developing a deep thirst for violence and bloodshed, a berserker rage that will never cease, to throw themselves into indulgence and depravity the likes of demons and monsters would even come to fear, and to revere and worship dark powers of old prophesied to reawaken and return for the end of the world believed to aid Fenrir to gain their infernal blessings and allegiance as they share to seek world's end. The Fenrir Knight specializes in not just merciless fearsome combat, but also in the arts of invocation and sorcery; it is said that because of the classes' closeness with the demonic forces of Fenrir and Mavolia, this pact has bestowed the class with enervating spells to make opposition helpless before their presence, and allows them to summon terrifying monsters from the depths of the demonic realm.

    • 27 if you want Stat Down CS Boost, see notes.
  • 27 points INT asap for Super Stat Down II
  • 27 points LUCK for Bad Luck, see notes.

  • Max STR for damage or STA for survival.
Notes:
  • Bad Luck - each trigger chance is individually per target, this will trigger almost immediately on a boss due to their multiple hitboxes, and above 3 targets it's inevitable that it will work.

  • Stat Down CS Boost - triggers individually as well, so for each target you debuff you gain 15% CS from each, the same applies to bosses with multiple hitboxes.

  • The AI likes to spam Hexas (Lamia Naga) if you have it, it's not half bad but it's not amazing either, the damage tends to be mediocre at times.

Great all-around class to its opposite, though it doesn't come with any passive Stat Down effects (Warlock/Chaosbringer) to mirror the Starlancer, the enemies having stats of their own and you being able to substantially reduce them is quite a massive one; it would have been quite broken otherwise.

Throw a Defenseless for your attackers before a fight, or Enfeeble for casters and just go through each group as they come. The CS Boost ability will give you some more leeway in playing with your Class Strike if you want to.

Stats:
  • Max STR for damage
  • 27 points INT only, for Super Stat Down.
Notes:
  • Recommended as the main character or primarily the one you play as due to Locked-Ability.
    • Heavily recommend you pair it with Light Charlotte for Recover Break, which applies a health shield when healed above 100%. It is a Chain as well.
  • Opposite Effect is now part of your core gameplay, throw down a Weaken on the enemy and suddenly you got an Attack-Up on yourself. This applies to all stat-down variants you got, so abuse it fully.
    • (INT 12) Down Time is not used since Opposite Effect will be a good reminder for you to re-apply your buffs on yourself.
  • Super Stat Down is fantastic on bosses, and any target you somehow wish dead quickly.

  • Counter remains a viable option, and you'll most likely want to heal yourself to full to make use of your attack damage anyway.
  • The AI likes to spam Jormungandr if you have it, it's not half bad but it's not amazing either, damage tends to be mediocre at times.
  • Random Debuff II applies the baseline debuffs without any Abilities attached (Super Stat Down), the same applies to Magic/Critical Smash and Broken Lines.
    • Not recommended, unless you want a really passive playstyle without ever casting a spell, then just attack with A-A-A-A-B several times to apply since each hit has a chance to trigger.

Opposite Effect makes this class easier and stronger to play, your debuffs are relevant and strong on bosses still and you got a fantastic Locked Ability to boost your physical prowess. For better uptime on your Locked Ability, you should have Recover Break available and ready which Light Charlotte comes with. Fill the slots in with any strong Chains you've unlocked from allies and whatnot.

Notes:
  • Bad Luck I & II do stack with each other and will guaranteed work on bosses with multiple hitboxes, Bad Luck II is a heavy point investment but as mentioned in stats you are free to spend your points anywhere.
  • Super Stat Down I & II are CHAIN abilities, in your new playthrough that does not have Riesz you can put these on a Necromancer Charlotte to make Dark Curse a really strong debuff.

You are unstoppable at this point in the game, so you can use and spend your points where ever you wish. Do you want to spam summons? go right ahead. Stat Down CS Boost will work wonders on Anise if you want 105% CS each cast.

Dragon Master
Abilities:

Stats:

  • Points in STA to even out Attacker II.
Notes:
  • Counter can still be used if you want it.
  • Super Stat Down I & II are CHAIN abilities, in your new playthrough that does not have Riesz you can put these on a Necromancer Charlotte to make Dark Curse a really strong debuff.
  • Bad Luck II is great, but has no visual queue for when it triggers other than the damage you might do or take. Fishing for procs on one target slows down the pacing a lot so if you want to use it then go ahead.
    • It is however a heavy point investment in LUCK, which could be used for removing the defense decrease of Attacker II.

Not much to it, but you got a lot of slots to fill with any type of damage Chains you might carry with you. Be sure to have your HP topped off for your damage, especially if you use your Class Strike. If you for some reason want to spend all your points into Jormungandr's power, I can't tell you otherwise.

??? Seeds: how to farm them
In order to gain access to Class 3 you will need to be level 38 and above while having a corresponding item in order to unlock it. The items needed are called ??? Seed and tend to drop around the time you're about to reach your character's final story-related dungeon. You need to visit the special Goddess Statue in the Sanctuary of Mana afterward.

SOME EXCEPTIONS TO THESE RULES, HOWEVER
These can drop from chests as well but VERY rarely, I personally at most had 2 until I reached the part where I could farm them at the end-game.It is entirely possible to complete the entire game and the final dungeon of your characters' story without ever getting to enjoy Class 3.
I personally recommend you spend the time needed to farm these seeds when possible.

Hover over the text below when you reach level 38:
(This tip is to get the most enjoyment out of the time you can efficiently unlock your class because the worst thing that can happen is only getting to fight 1-3 bosses without getting to enjoy your new flashy class fully.)

Earliest possible method:
Pray to whatever deity or entity you worship for the RNG.
Those with a chance to drop them:
  • Chartmoon Tower, hunt Silverwolf. (There are a lot of them)
    • Before you reach the top floor, you will be greeted by 3 Silverwolf mobs. Go to the top floor and only target the groups that has Silverwolf in it, go down to the 3 Silverwolves again for their respawn and repeat.
  • Woods of Wandara, hunt Queeneebs

End-game Method:
Defeat all 7 of the Benevodons, then view the text below.

After you have defeated the 7 Benevodons, you head out to find the Darkstone. Depending on which story you are in, your quest will have you progress deeper into a unique area; this will either be:

Crystal Desert (Duran/Angela)
Jungle of Illusion (Kevin/Charlotte)
Night Cavern (Hawkeye/Riesz)

TIP: There is usually a Golden Goddess Statue at the end of the area with a boss fight, feel free to enter but I like to fight it after I've changed my class just for enjoyment's sake. Scour the entire area, there tends to be 1-2 special monsters who instead drops the ultra-rare Rainbow Seed as well, but the vast majority of monsters in these specific areas drop the ??? Seeds quite regularly (or as regularly as RNG can get). Get about 6 of the ??? seeds (or 10 if you wish), go to an Inn and grow them and hope for the item you want.

@essenceofevan

At the time when I made the guides, the descriptions weren't translated properly or they didn't exist to begin with.

Thanks for the guide, super helpful!

Hello! Posting this for a friend. He noted that three job classes (Vanadis, Starlancer, and Dragon Master), were lacking descriptions. He was asking if you could provide the description / game lore about them or at least provide a source. He'd really appreciate it. Thanks for this guide!

Added a note about Super Stat Down on both Final Dark builds, this is in the case if your party does not have Riesz in it and you make a DARK Charlotte.

Riesz updated with builds on both Light and Dark.
Pandada-sensei  [author] 5 May, 2020 @ 2:06pm
Updating Riesz tomorrow with all the builds, even though she doesn't require anything to fit into any/all teams due to the power of her utility.

UPDATE: For anyone using difficulty mod, do consider investing in STA for your party members sake!

U.u... Sold. Gonna play a Dragon Master run. Thnx. ^^
Pandada-sensei  [author] 26 Apr, 2020 @ 1:12am
It's really big spells that activates a short animation (the same as Class Strikes), they are really flashy.

I'm gonna add some commentary on all the classes;

For example Dragon Master is a really good class to play if you're the player; you don't need to cast any debuffs at all if you equip that class with abilities that apply debuffs on Crit and Power attack; since the final power attack Riesz gets gets multiple hits.
Wayfarer 26 Apr, 2020 @ 1:09am
That's a really helpfull guide. May go for a Riesz run. Never done it with the oreiginal. Are summons actually minions, this time, or just big spells (FF8 GF style)?
