Take Notes - Journal of the Dragonborn

Description
~~~ Take Notes - Journal of the Dragonborn ~~~
Take Notes adds a new player journal to the game which lets you create, view and export your own journal entries.
~~~ LINK TO SKYRIM NEXUS ~~~
Take Notes is also available on Skyrim Nexus[www.nexusmods.com]!

~~~ REQUIREMENTS ~~~
Take Notes requires
~ SKSE[skse.silverlock.org] 1.6.16 or higher
~ SkyUI[skyrim.nexusmods.com] 4.1 or higher
~ FISS[skyrim.nexusmods.com] 1.0 or higher (you only need this if you want to export your journal entries to a .txt file. The journal itself works fine without this)
~~~ HOW TO USE ~~~

~~~ THE MCM MENU ~~~
In the MCM you can select a theme for the journal ("dark" or "book") and change the controls and font.
You can also export the Journal to a txt file for offline viewing.
~~~ THE JOURNAL ~~~
You can open the journal by pressing the "X" (default).
When you open the journal for the first time it will look like this

You haven't written any entries yet, so it only consists of the front page.
You can now use the menu to
~ New - create a new journal entry
~ Edit - edit the currently shown entry
~ Delete - delete the currently shown entry
~ Close - close the journal

You can also hide the menu by pressing "space" and setup hotkeys for everything in the MCM.

~~~ EDITING MODE ~~~
Upon creating a new entry the journal switches to editing mode.
In editing mode you can write the journal entry.
If you want to change the header of an entry (= date), just click it while in editing mode.
To leave editing mode, click "Accept" or "Cancel" (or press TAB or ESC)
~~~ CUSTOMIZING THE JOURNAL ~~~
When not in editing mode you can customize the journal as follows:
SHIFT + ARROW KEYS ? move journal
CTRL + ARROW KEYS ? change size and opacity

~~~ COMPATIBILITY ~~~
~~ Hotkeys of other mods ~~
In Editing mode, pressing the hotkeys of some other mods result in triggering the respective actions.
Unfortunately this can only (but easiliy) be fixed by the authors of those mods --> hotkeys should not fire when the game is inside a menu (unless it’s explicitely wanted to be executed in a menu of course) and definitely not when game is in text input mode(checkable by skse funtion UI.IsTextInputEnabled).
To check that this is not specific to Take Notes: open the console and enter "showracemenu". Close the racemenu and when aksed for a player name, enter a name that contains a hotkey --> hotkey fires. Same for renaming enchanted items etc.
~~~ FAQ ~~~
~~ Book theme is nice and all, but what about an actual in-game book? ~~
Can't really answer that one right now. I tried a few things but it didn't work out like I hoped. I haven't given up though ;)
~~ Where is the exported journal text file? ~~
The path should be: /Skyrim/Data/SKSE/Plugins/FISS/TakeNotes/JournalExport.txt
Some mod managers however create virtual environments in which the game runs. In that case the folders will be found elsewhere (depending on mod manager).
For ModOrganizer e.g. files are stored in /Mod Organizer/overwrite/SKSE/Plugins/FISS/TakeNotes/

~~~ THANKS & CREDITS ~~~
~ Bethesda for creating this wonderful game
~ SKSE team for their incredible work. Skyrim wouldn't be anywhere near as good without you
~ SkyUI team (especially Schlangster) for amazing UI and invaluable input
~~~ USED FONTS ~~~
The following fonts are used in this mod. Thanks to the authors
~ Foglihten[www.dafont.com] by gluk[www.dafont.com] (SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1)

~~~ TROUBLESHOOTING ~~~
--- Journal does not open ---
This is almost always related to SKSE not being installed or not being installed properly.
Make sure that both Skyrim and SKSE are up to date.
Here is a SKSE Video tutorial
If you still can't bring it up, install SkyUI.
--- What and where is the MCM Menu ---
MCM means ModConfigurationMenu and is a feature of SkyUI.
Further info MCM
If you want to use MCM but do not like the look of SkyUI, you can try this:
MCM without SkyUI
--- Journal opens but cannot type ---
Here are some things you can try:
- Make sure SkyUI and SKSE are configured properly (see videos above)
- Do a clean save and try again (clean save = save game -> uninstall take notes -> load game -> wait a few seconds -> save game -> reinstall -> load game)
- Try to switch to the Dark Theme (MCM menu -> Themes) and try again
- This is a fix posted by LadySheogorath on the Nexus forum:
"Here's the fix, just as an FYI. Make a hard save (not a quick save) and then, without closing the game, load that save. I'm not sure if it would work by just going to the Main Menu and loading from there, but I simply selected and loaded the save from inside the game."
I don't know why other people are having problems, but it works great for me, and I use it a lot. It makes me happy that I can basically write my character's story as I go along and write down notes for later use. It works really well and helps me to feel more immersed in the game.
Would it be possible to get the new version of Take Notes on here? I love this mod thus far, it really adds to the immersion for me. I roleplay different character types whenever I play, and I like making a backstory for them and recording their adventures.
However, I would also really like to be able to take advantage of the different tabs and chapters available on the new version. I know that it is available on Nexus, but honestly, I don't know a ton about mods and the Steam workshop pretty much makes it so I don't have to worry about load order or anything. I have messed up my games before trying to do it myself, even with LOOT. XD
Anyway, thank you for creating such a fun, immersive mod!
