Gorses are disgusting creatures, but thankfully they become delicacies when prepared correctly.

Ok so, what are gorses?
Gorses are alien creatures that were introduced alongside the 1.6 update, they are the most remarkable addition of the 1.6 update as they are literally on the cover of the update news image.
Not to mention, they were even leaked onto the steam workshop before they were actually added.

Before you get any wrong ideas, the developer of the game allowed gorse to be leaked onto the workshop before it's inital release.

And now, here's what gorses are capable of.
Gorses are creatures that resemble the half life headcrab, however unlike headcrabs, they don't attempt to leech off of the human via the head, and they instead attack with some acid like spit from their gaping maw.

This acid spit (or barf) can easily cause a similar effect to the acid syringe upon constant collision, this is what makes gorses dangerous.

They also have insane range, which makes them even more dangerous.

But what if i told you gorses can actually be a delicacy when they are prepared correctly? It might seem like down right baloney since the in game description says gorses smell like burnt glue.

But turning gorse from a dangerous alien into a delicious meal is a 5 step dance, it might seem like it takes time but the process is worth it.
Step 1: Tracking one down
You'd be a good guesser if your first thought here was that gorses aren't easy to find, because they are very native to the biomes to settle in and they explore them heavily because they base their survival around how familiar they are with their environment. This trait can give them cat like stealth.

Here's a tip: they are found most commonly in junkyards, you can also find them in wastelands and scrapyards but i'd go for better chances.

Assuming the gorse hasn't noticed you or you aren't getting mauled by one who snuck up on you, you're best bet is to stay as far away as possible from the gorse, they can projectile vomit over very long distances, so it's best to stay focused and stand your distance.

It's also advised to use a sniper rifle to take down a gorse. (The laser sight is vital) Due to the thinness of gorse skin the bullet is most likely to go all the way through the gorse, however here's an important tip, though it looks like they lack eyesight, their alien properties allows them to see with their mouth, weird but i know.

Hopefully the gorse hasn't seen you aiming the laser sight right at it. Because they are also carefully observant in case of any dangers, once it looks like the time is right, make your move.
Step 2: Preparing the gorse

First off, you will need to preform some important dissections, unless you only want to eat the legs, which is equally as good as the entire body but the head piece has a sweetish flavor.

If you do in fact want to eat the head then you're going to need to stab the area directly under the gorse, this ruptures their special bladder that contains their special acid vomit, after it all drains out you are free to carve it as you please, just don't touch the teeth, you have to wash them first.

If the bullet didn't make it all the way through the gorse, you're gonna need to do some extra dissection to remove the bullet, it's easy to remove but it can be a bit annoying.
Step 3: Cooking the gorse
When you're done dissecting them, you can finally start cooking them. It doesn't matter how you cook them, Grilled? Microwaved? Pan fried? Cooked with a flamethrower? anything goes.
Step 4: Add the finishing touches

(the thing the guy is holding in the pic is supposed to be a salt shaker)

Once you're done heating up your alien delicacy, the next step is to add any finishing touches to it, garnishes and rice go good, but don't forget about the salt and pepper. You could also add ketchup, if you're that type.
Step 5: Just eat it!

Once you finished all the previous steps, you can now finally dine down on your dish! It's meat is rich with nutrients, and don't feel weird if you decide to use it's legs as toothpicks, or chopsticks.

However remember this important tip: excessive consumption of gorses might cause other gorses to prefer you more than other prey.

Poor guy.
