Description
Named after the tallest mountain in Scandinavia, polar outpost "Galdhøpiggen" is a modular research facility to be deployed in harsh environments where blizzards are expected. Its elevated design reduces snow drifts and prevents the outpost from being quickly buried in snow. Powered by a small nuclear fission reactor and auxiliary fuel cells, it can achieve self-sufficiency without solar energy, which is not reliable in certain polar regions or on outer planets.

This design is based on the Polar Expedition artwork by juliaorven. A close replica of that artwork is available here.

Pure stock, no mods, no DLCs. 204 parts, root part is the Mk2 lander can as "main entrance".

Key Features
- Self-sufficient all-in-one modular surface base
- Docking port height compatible with ERV-7 "Reindeer" rover (may need some spring strength adjustment)
- Snowman!

Design Notes
- If taken away from the base and saved separately, the snowman is a fully functional scout lander.
- As can be seen in the last screenshot, the "nuclear fission reactor" is actually powered by 12 RTGs. Do not activate the decorative Nerv engine.
- I gave up on designing a reasonable delivery system. Such a base should be constructed on-site using highly compressed, prefabricated material piles. Any "kerbal" way of landing the whole base or even individual modules is not realistic.
- My suggestion for transportation: seriously launch and land >50t of mass (e.g. 3 full large ore tanks) on the determined spot, then use "set location" functionality in the Alt+F12 menu to get the base there, pretending it's constructed by robots from that material pile.

Wish you enjoy and happy landing!
