Vanilla Stellaris isn’t perfectly balanced, like all things should be. With THIS MOD, things are different. Civics you used to overlook before are now viable options, and Synth Ascension isn’t the only way to win in the late game. Both Multiplayer and Singleplayer are significantly more enjoyable and filled with possibilities!

This mod is an enhancement suite for Stellaris that attempts to balance the player options within the game to ensure a better game experience. We have overhauled Civics, Traits, Origins, Traditions, Ascension Perks and Paths, Relics, Edicts, Jobs, and Living Standards based on player feedback and Stefan Annon’s Tierlists.

Some of our most popular changes:
  • Overhauled the Shattered Ring origin by removing its guaranteed worlds and adding unique blockers that reduce the efficiency of its districts in the early game.
  • Added 3 blockers that reveal special features to the Post-Apocalyptic homeworld
  • Pushed back the Scion fleet event to at least 2250.
  • Meteor colony ships from the Calamitous Birth origin will now leave Massive Craters like on the homeworld, and can be paved over after researching Terrestrial Sculpting to restore the world’s habitability.
  • Buffed the Psionic Ascension Path across the board to be worth picking.
  • Roboticist jobs are now half as effective, but each building provides twice as many jobs.
  • Criminal Heritage megacorps now save on contracting costs and bureaucratic red tape with a -15% Branch Office Cost modifier! And when paired with Gospel of the Masses, they now have access to the unique “Sanctuary of Sin” branch office building for all of your heretical needs.
  • Chemical Bliss now has a proper niche as a way to suppress workers, slaves, and conquered pops, with much lower penalties for specialists and workers.
  • Synthetic Age, abandoned child of the ascension paths, now grants +2 trait points, -75% species modification cost, and +5% job output across the board.
  • Habitats will now benefit from traditions and technologies that improve housing districts and add clerk jobs to commercial districts.
  • Ethics have been given a balance pass, so your spiritualist pacifists won't be so sad and (as of the 2.7 pop growth nerfs) your xenophobes won't grow as astonishingly quickly.
  • Now features the excellent work of McAwesome's Better Purge mod, causing planets with many purging pops to purge much faster.

And many, many more! A full changelist is available HERE[docs.google.com].

This mod overwrites a number of vanilla files. Please see the changelist for a full list.

Compatibility has been assured for the following mods:
  • Guilli's Planet Modifiers
  • Starnet AI (Compatch HERE)
  • Glavius AI (Compatch HERE)

Has anyone tried using Aggressive Crisis Engine with this mod?

I always wanted a sublight speed bonus on my starbases so I could make an actual trade route. Love it!

@anaphysik Oh wow, yeah that sounds kinda harsh for Necrophages.

I asked these on the 2.8 thread, but realized that it being unlisted may mean that you all would prefer any questions to still be asked here instead.

Q: With the nerf to Technocracy (half the unity, and reduced Science Director output), do you think it's okay to re-open the civic to regular-Materialist as well instead of being restricted to only fanatic-Materialist? Or is that too far? (Prior to 2.3, Technocracy was available to both normal-materialist and fanatic-materialist.)

"Forcibly invading a primitive world will now result in the death of all but 4 primitive pops. Invading planets was too lucrative, especially in the early game, and we hope that this change will incentivise slowly uplifting the pops instead."

Q: This is also an extreme nerf for the Necrophage origin, correct? The change happened before Necroids came out, but do you now consider this to be an appropriate nerf to the origin?
