Generic Soldier Class [WOTC]

Description
Adds value to your game with a new soldier class: Generic Soldier

Just like the name sounds, this is an easy-to-use, basic soldier class with only a single skill-tree. However, looks can be deceiving...

While most soldier classes get their strength from learning tactical abilities, the Generic Soldier gets its strength from raw stats. With only a single perk-tree dedicated to the pistol, this class gets much higher general stat-bonuses than other classes do.

Most default classes - by the time they reach max rank - will have gained about +6 HP, and about +15 Offense. The Generic Soldier class will have (at max rank) +12 HP and +30 Offense.

Note that, bonuses are in addition to default "rookie" Soldier stats. Bonuses to Hacking and Will remain unchanged from that of other classes.

Generic Soldiers can still benefit from random "XCOM" abilities when the Training Center is unlocked.

1) Squaddie
New Ability = Fire Pistol -- This is required in order to even use the pistol.
+36 Offense
+18 HP
+21 Defense

2) Corporal
New Ability = Sustain -- When killed, survive at 1 HP and go into Stasis for 1 turn.
-1 Offense
-1 HP
-1 Defense -- total reduced from +21 to +20

3) Sergeant
New Ability = Return Fire -- Automatically get a free shot with your pistol when attacked, once per turn.
-1 Offense
-1 HP
-2 Defense -- total reduced from +20 to +18

4) Lieutenant
New Ability = Lightning Hands -- Take a shot with your pistol. Free action with a cooldown.
-1 Offense
-1 HP
-3 Defense -- total reduced from +18 to +15

5) Captain
New Ability = Quickdraw -- Pistol shots only cost 1 action and don't end your turn.
-1 Offense
-1 HP
-4 Defense -- total reduced from +15 to +11

6) Major
New Ability = Faceoff -- Shoot your pistol once at every target within range.
-1 Offense
-1 HP
-5 Defense -- total reduced from +11 to +6

7) Colonel
New Ability = Fan Fire -- Take 3 pistol shots against a single target.
-1 Offense -- final total is +30 (default classes have about +15 by now)
-1 HP -- final total is +12 (default classes have about +6 by now)
-6 Defense -- total reduced from +6 to +0


Safe to enable mid-campaign (however, it may take a while before they begin to show up, due to a ClassDeck already having been constructed by the game). This class will be available immediately in new campaigns.

No need to apologize - and that is good news! I did not expect that little line to be the problem. I will add that to my list of updates and make the change in the future. Good job finding that.

Excuse me for posting again. Actually i removed the whole ";()), \\" , not only the ";())". My mistake in my previous post, i am sorry.

Ok , i think i got it. In your XComClassData.ini, at the lines that are defining the stats of the soldier according to his rank. After the "AbilitySlots" line , there is a ";())" , in every rank. I remove that only for the squddie rank. Although it didnt work for the existing soldier, it worked perfectly for a new one that i promoted to "Generic Soldier" , which his PCS slot now is available. Personally i am gonna remove that ";())" thing from every rank, cause i suspect it also disables everything else also that is being typed after it. If you want to check it yourself, maybe you will come with a better solution.

Just one more question. In your playthroughs, does the PCS slot opens ,and keeps open, as the soldier ranks up?

Thats weird. I am heavy of classes mods, but very carefull about any other mods, and i use very few outside the ones that a class may need. I will try to check it out and try somethings, based on my limited modding knowledge. Thank you for your effort.

I checked the code and it appears to me that everything was set up correctly. I have no idea what could be causing that. It is literally a copy and paste of the Ranger class and then some parameters were modified, but I did not alter the CombatSims stat (which determines if they can use PCS).

No it was not purposely de-activated. Thanks for letting me know, I will check that out.
