Yes this is based on the newest update of 0.8.
On normal, yes that is possible. I would say that the largest increase in difficulty comes from the higher morale loss, but there's also a power spike for the heroes. I found it difficult not to lose either all or at least 2 monsters when putting up 2 rooms, as the morale damage monsters are rather squishy.
So you can't really afford to let monsters die, as they will become unavailable - and when too many are unavailable you can't put up a good defense when it matters most. This is mostly about managing the risk, which gives a higher overall success rate for the run.
The slaveholder also has a ton of hp that you can utilize, in order to save your monsters. I would rather rely on traps and your master to take care of things.
